I don't know what exactly is wrong with some of our guys right now, but several have had shoulder injuries. In the past we've lost some OL to career ending shoulder injuries as well (like Jeremy Phillips, iirc). So can someone (Mover?) shed some light on what's going on? I don't remember hearing much about linemen from other teams having an inordinate number of shoulder injuries. Am I imagining things? Is this some kind of freak think or is there some logic to the number of problems our guys have had?

While we're talking about OL, which guy was it who had the 35 yard penalty Saturday while Nesbitt was in?

The only think I can think of is we are bringing these kids in a little light weighted and then putting them in the weightroom extensively. Whether it's the excercises they are doing or just the fast growth of their bodies that are causing these injuries.

I was thinking the same thing though a couple of weeks ago.

#61.

I wasn't able to see what happened on the hold, but on the personal foul he was trying to pull the guys who were punching Nesbitt off of him and kept going after the whistle. As usual, the guy who started it is not the one who gets called.

I don't know about other teams, but UGA has had a major problem in this same area.

Shoulder injuries to previous OL recruits is the main reason they are now having to start 3 freshmen.

OK, I confess. I have a brother who is a BIG Georgia fan. Easy to get information on them.

Lifting heavy on the bench press with barbells (as opposed to dumbbells) is notorious for causing shoulder injuries. Dunno if this is any of the problems on the OL, though.
