Old Ball Sack getting defensive

South Carolina is not on the same playing field as UNC when it comes to overall academics.

Spurrier's probably defensive because he has always graduated his own players and is ticked that the rest of the ESS--EEE--SEE coaches don't.

Special Ed Conference.

UNC's grad rate it better than USC's regardless of what Spurrier does.

I'm not sure why Spurrier is talking about graduation rates. Since when was graduation rates a measure of the quality of education? Isn't that a meter of how easy the school is? Does Spurrier think that Johnnie Farms won't be able to graduate if he goes to UNC? It's almost an insult to the recruit's intelligence. Haha!

The fact of the matter is that ACC academics trump SEC academics. The only school in the SEC that I would say is worthy of praise for their academics is Vanderbilt.

Florida is a pretty decent school too.

Graduation rates are actual a pretty good indicator of academic performance. If you look at the top schools in the country they will have very high graduation rates. The NCAA also uses grad rates as an indicator in its academic ratings for athletics.

That said, USC has mediocre academics even for the SEC and isn't in the same league as UNC. It's pretty amusing overall.

You do realize that Tech only graduates about 48% of it's football players. In fact, I think that is tied with UGAg and lower than Texas. But I'm pretty sure our student-athletes are getting a better education and not studying housing or recreation management.

Overall, though, the ACC has the highest average with about 75% compared to 60ish% for the SEC.

You're right Turban, I wasn't thinking about football players. I meant graduation rates for the schools overall. And I think if you looked at SA's overall it would probably be similar. The football player issue is a special case.

However, if the stats you quote are accurate its something I'd like to see worked on. Regardless of anything else, we should be able to do better than that.
