It was amazing. It almost looked like the horse intentionally bucked him. I'm sure it will appear on YouTube in the next day or so.

the game is on espnU, so you should be able to rewind on espn360 and record.

On second viewing (thanks, DVR rewind ability) the horse DEFINITELY bucked him off. It was great. "Cavman" bounced up and down a few times and gradually lost control and then went head-first to the field! And yes, it was during the big dramatic entrance, which maximized the number of people watching!

:laugher:That ain't a horse, it's a f#cking pony. The dude is riding a pony!!!!

God almighty! They can't even do that right! It's a wonder that the flaming pirate didn't filet himself when he fell off the pony.

That was major hilarity.

Why would anybody want a gay mascot anyway? I don't have anything against gay folks but they aren't generally renowned for their intimidating countenances.

From Pat Forde:

And The Horse You Rode In On

The state of football at Virginia (34) was perfectly summed up last Saturday when the school's mascot, Cavman, fell off his horse while riding onto the field amid the pregame festivities. The Cavaliers promptly followed suit, being trampled at home by TCU 30-14. That followed a 12-point loss to William & Mary in the season opener and stretched the program's losing streak to six dating back to last year. Total points scored during that slide: 79.
The fact that Al Groh (35) is in his ninth year at the school speaks poorly of Virginia's athletic administration: He has recruited remarkably well while fielding remarkably mediocre teams. If Groh is around for a tenth, the ACC should kick the school out of the league.

The more and more bad UVA looks, the more and more embarrassed I am that we lost to them last year. It's kinda like losing to Duke back when they REALLY sucked.
