...we have some young guys playing valuable minutes who are showing they have some talent. There will even be enough talent left on OL after this season that if they get themselves together this off season, they could be good next year. We also got a good look at what the defense may look like without Gotsis and it wasn't as scary as I had feared. If we went from last years success to this year's debacle in one year, no reason to believe we can't turn this year's debacle into last season's success just as quickly.

OK--i'll bite and agree but the gloom is too dark to see any light right now.

defense loses Gostis and the entire secondary.:turbonoes:

Sewak will still be coaching the o-line.:turbonoes::turbonoes:

Maybe with an easier (?) schedule and not having the rash of injuries, the team could get to 5 or 6 wins.

Not trying to be negative but you do realize this was against the mighty Cavaliers, right? Thank God we get Gamble back.

Gamble, Freeman, and Kallon, will all be a year older and hopefully stronger and wiser. We have some promising talent coming to the secondary that while they may not be as good as good as this year's squad, I don't think will be a disaster.

The personnel situation on defense is really troubling

We aren't recruiting well enough

I like Gamble and Freeman (a bit of the sophomore slump this season?). Sadly, I don't think that Kallon will ever produce on the field.

The backup DB's are as good or better. The o-line didn't cause Thomas to fumble or overthrow a wide open receiver for a td.

The OL didn't case a fumble; but I wouldn't give them a pass on the overthrows and underthrows today. Clearly JT5 isn't comfortable back there and for good reason.

On DL there's no argument; but we have recruited well for the other positions. If we ever fix the problems up front the rest of the D will look stellar.

If they're not as good as this year's, won't that make them worse than a disaster?

 Not at all. After an ugly loss it's hard to see the bright spots sometimes; but there is no denying that Golden and White have talent, and the rest of that group aren't bad. I even saw one thread where one poster was talking about how awful our receivers were. I think our receivers had a pretty good game, a lot of nice catches with guys who were covered and had to fight for the ball.

Our problems are predominately at the line of scrimmage on both sides and it makes everything look worse than it is. The DL isn't a shock; but OL is definitely an unpleasant surprise. I know the OL had a couple of guys out; but they've been bad all year except for last week.
