There is a thread about a Quarterback transfer. Could anyone let the rest of us cheapskates on what the thread is about. Could a quarterback be looking at transferring into Tech from a ACC or SEC school? I'd gladly take either Joe Cox or Blake Barnes over at Georgia.

I subscribe to Rivals, not Scout. But someone asked the same question over on Rivals, and the head honcho said he would look into it and so far, it's just a rumor.

As for why the thread is so long on Scout; I think everyone and their mom is speculating as to who the rumored QB is.

I subscribe to neither, but if I were Cox, I'd be out of Athens after this semester. He seems to be the one that most of their fans have dealt out of any consideration at QB since the second coming of Joe Montana has arrived on campus (Stafford). Of course, as soon as they sign another hotshot, the love affair with Stafford will cool.

Wouldn't mind seeing him transfer to Tech, get a little revenge on the fleabags, AND make a success of himself with his GT education ala John Dewberry.

Mark Richt and Georgia should have a hard time recruiting any hot-shot quarterback to Athens for at least two years.

Mitch Stafford looks so much like the real deal that the Georgia lovefest with him will cool about as fast as mine would for the USC Trojan cheerleaders. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drinking.gif

A key INT at Florida, Tennessee, or Tech gets Stafford into the doghouse pretty quick. Who was the receiver that they wanted to throw under the bus a few years ago? His name escapes me. Was it Gibson?

Trust me, if they land Nesbitt, mutts will claim he had amazingly gained the ability to walk on water and four undefeated seasons are guaranteed. Stafford who?

If we get Nesbitt, I will feel equally happy - we need him more.

Do not be surprised if Nesbitt ends up at another position in college. Many scouts think he best shot at early playing time is at FS.

A five star QB moving to FS? I just don't see that happening. Perhaps if he doesn't work out at the QB position in college maybe the move.

Take a look at Auburn's roster for your answer.

OK, I give up. Just tell me.

Watch video of Brantley, Clausen, Korn, Paulus, etc....then watch Nesbitt and you will see a huge difference in the mechanics, the competition, the offensive set, etc. Even the early ratings reflect this.

Please understand me...I am not saying he cannot be an outstanding college QB one day. This kid is the type of athlete that can almost pick the spot he wants to concentrate on. I am just trying to manage everyones expectations that unless he made tremendous strides during the off-season on mechanics, he has some work to do and is not a day one impact kid at QB.

If it was Brantley then we could expect more on day one. I want Nesbitt to be a Jacket, but I also think the fans need to show some restraint that he is going to need a lot of coaching and some time to adjust from the 2A level to BCS Conference-D1.

Re: BOOKER

he was a 3* in Calvin's recruiting year. He was GA top 50 and is from Mays in ATL.

Typically QB transfers are dicey at best.

Re: BOOKER

JJacket: I have the video of Josh Nesbitt and Greene County against Charlton County in the Georgia Dome. A great athlete who might be a quarterback in college. But it would take a lot of work. Picture DJ Shockley's mechanics....to get an idea. Plus Greene and Nesbitt runs an offense that is 100 percent spread formation. As wide open as you will ever see in Georgia. A very improvisational offense.

I have seen Mitch Stafford on film and it is likely the lovefest with him will be bright for the next 4 years.

P.S. The Georgia receiver? I think you are thinking of Terrence 'Ironhands' Edwards.

Calvin Booker eh....that would be good news.

Re: John Brantley Jr.

Is he the son of the Georgia linebacker from the early eighties? I suspect that he is but would like confirmation.

If Cox is transferring I would love to have him. And, a "John Dewberry" story would nice to repeat. Many critique Charlotte Independence QB's - saying it is the system that makes them. Yet, I would not have minded having Chris Leak at Tech playing QB the past three years, would you?

When I saw Cox in the 4A championship game at Chapel Hill, I was impressed - one of the five best high school QB's I have seen in person. A 40 yard out pass he put on the money with perfect timing to Massaquoi convinced me. The pass was a carbon copy of one Shawn Jones threw (to Goolsby, I believe) in the Citrus Bowl. In pregame high school coaches in the stands were impressed with his footwork and release - one said "He looks a lot like Favre did when he was young."

Yep, if Stafford has ended the Dawgs love for Cox, welcome him aboard. If not, at least let's hope he does not transfer to State, UNC, or Clemson.

Cox is not transferring. Calvin Booker from Mays H.S. in Atlanta is the qb from Auburn who is looking to transfer.

details on Booker?

Anyone have any details on him? I dont follow Auburn football, so don't know anything about him...What year is he? Is he mobile, or more drop back? Is he any good?

Re: details on Booker?

So, basically, he's not transferring.
