There's all kinds of opinions on what they did, but what would have been a hand slap 20 yrs prior got them a permanent grounding despite being in the middle of a war and needing combat pilots. Wish it wasn't that way, but warfighting prowess no longer gets you a pass.Seeing as how they all eventually get grounded (except for Maverick), that wasn't a bad way to go out if you think about it. It's more like "Ahh gee whiz skipper, now I'll have to go fly for Delta and make more money. Oh, and thanks for the training!".
I was inside CL-2 East Section, getting a beer when that happened. I didn’t see it. But the flyover sounded like 10 M-1 Garands going off at the same time divided between my left and right ears at 6 feet distance, plus an earthquake shaking the stadium. It busted everyone’s ears inside the air conditioned CL and felt like an they hit Bobby Dodd. Everyone was ducking under the tables inside the fancy section including the bartenders. After it was over, I remember feeling sorry for any enemy of the USA on a battlefield. That would be terrifying—-even without Wille Pete and Napalm following it if dropped from those 2 jets. Extremely impressive.Yeah, they got grounded for either carelessness or disobeying orders. I knew one of the pilots - he lived across the hall from me when he was a freshman. I think he ended up flying for NASA.

“50k plus against the Deacons”…I just want to pause on that for a moment50k plus against the Deacons. The win made CPJ 18-5 to start his career.
Same here. The videos don’t do it justice.I was at that game. Those F18s were so loud I think I pooped a little.
Which one 50,000 in attendance or low flying F 18s?We need to revive that tradition
Yes.Which one 50,000 in attendance or low flying F 18s?
If I hooked up with Salma Hayek and then got thrown out of the house by her husband's thugs afterwards, I still hooked up.Well, it probably doesn't affect what they are doing now and they did something memorable instead of another interchangeable forgotten pass, so good for them.
