Is that we get a good deal on our new head coach AND we still get to promote GIFF.

Throw in Joe Ham / Da' Goose at QB coach and we're all happy campers,.......perhaps.;)

HIRE TENUTA!!! He's proven, He's connected with recruits already, He's GT...

Go back over to athens, but take a detour 1st and go west on I-20 and kiss your boy, Muschump on his little ole sweet cheeks.

well..maybe.

you are assuming Giff would want to work for Jon...or work very long for Jon when other schools are starting to look at him.

Jon has already said he would have no choice but to be the DC in year one if he was HC.

Also...can you imagine being the DC for Jon?

I have thought about this a lot, I have no problem at all with Jon as Head Coach, IF, we are going to hire a DC as head coach. Pete Carroll is his own DC and that would be alright with Jon doing the dual role. BUT, I would really want to see Jon hire a very good OC that will develop Qb's and play to win. I don't think that should be Bond, maybe as RB coach but not QB coach or OC.

Where exactly along I-20W would somebody find Muschamp?

I know I saw recently (I think it was the AJC right after Gailey was fired) where JT said he'd be his own DC, but every time I turn around, it's said that Giff will be promoted to keep him under the "JT as HC" scenario. When did things change? Will Giff just be a figurehead? I'd be thrilled, because I really don't want our new HC retaining coordinator responsibilities (at least at first), using excuses like "well, Pete Carroll and Spurrier do it" without mentioning all the guys that fail miserably at it. But it doesn't really jive with what JT previously said.

My bad...

I-85 south.

They all look the same over there to me! :laugher::laugher:

I think he meant to say Muschamp to West GA...or maybe UAB...you heard it here first, 1gtfan is the source :)

I would certainly not get my hopes up on keeping Giff if JT is the head coach.

Here's an economist's view:

assumptions:

1. we hire tenuta for an increase in his current salary of $500,000.
2. we hire a new OC for $100,000 more than Bond is making.

Implications:

We just spent $4,600,000 to get a new 1/2 HC. Tenuta already had complete D authority. The sarcastic analysis is that we just spent $4,600,000 for a new OC.

The response is that in losing Gailey, it's addition by subtraction. The true economists response, however, would be to take enthusiasm for the program into account, and project that to ticket sales and donor contributions, before you set your final figures.

yes, i missed an assumption.

3. tenuta and no increase in revenues from tickets, contributions (above and beyond those needed to pay severance already sunk).

You still missed an assumption. You're also implicitly assuming that this year's teams performance was going to enamor Tech fans to buy as many tickets next year as they did this year, had we kept Chan. Personally, I think they were about to dip, and that revenue loss projection should also go into the number you're comparing on your balance sheet.

Personally, I think if we name Tenuta our new HC, and we kick a lot of ass in the bowl game, we will see a substantial increase in ticket sales for next year. I think we'll see a noticeable one just for getting rid of Chan, when compared with next years projections had we kept him.

We need to sell an extra 4,250 tickets per home game to pay Chan's salary. I think that is very doable with the right HC.

If we hire Tenuta for about what we were paying Chan then we have Tenuta's old DC salary to spend on a top flight OC. I don't know why people think that Giff would leave if JT were HC. I would think that Giff would get promoted to DC in that scenario.

Correction - need to sell those tickets at face value. Not the packages that include 4 tickets to game, 4 hot dogs, 4 cokes, 4 media guides, 4 ice creams, 4 tickets to see Big Boi, 4 hats, 4 parking spaces, 4 "cut in line" bathroom passes, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Those packages are the culprit of the stadium being half red two weeks ago.

If they want to create a buzz, pun in intended. They will have to bring more to the table than what is already there staff wise.

Unless, JT hops on the podium and throws out a very loud "boom mofo" and procededs to tell Hack Bradley talk to him, he's a man, he's forty. Then look directly into the camera and ltell Mark Richt that he is going to be his beeaitch.

That would probably get some hype started.
