Only one way this bowl game ends up being a positive

and that's if we demolish LSU. We are supposed to beat a 7-5 LSU team that really should be 6-6 right now with a loss to Troy. If it's close or we lose we'll lose a lot of respect.

We should have demolished LSU last time we played them in the Dome. Our respective records were similar to what they are now, and we were favored by a substantial margin. We had won our 3rd in a row over Ugag and were euphoric and confident.

We moved up and down the field on LSU in the first half, but Kelly Rhino, in a highly unusual happening, fumbled after a great punt return, setting up an LSU score and Goose ended up shredding his knee (late in the game, little to no affect on the game's outcome, but did affect him the next season) and the season ended on a disappointing sour note. The game is referred to as the Pitts Bowl. Gaaa.

I think we'll win. We should win. But overconfidence (not sayin' you are, Kyle) and arrogance is not called for.

Or LSU could have beaten Alabama in overtime instead of the loss and had a completely different finish.

It cuts both ways.

You are so far from reality with what this GT is this season. You are drunk on that 3rd quarter at Georgia.

Beating LSU is always a good win any way you slice it.

+1. A win is a win is a win. While I share your unbridled enthusiasm, I'll just be happy with a win. Granted, it would be nice to see us put up atleast 400 all purpose yards in the game (even better if it was 400 rushing yards) just to reassure me that the offense as a whole is really beginning to "get it". I imagine doing that again for the third week in a row against "quality" opponents, the talking heads will have nothing to say about GT other than "they are going to be scary next season".

LSU may have a suspect D but their offense is nothing to look past - it could be another GT/UGA shootout...

Oh yeah, and no fumbles :)

Take away the name "LSU" and "SEC" and pretend it's a team nobody has ever heard of before, and this the records of team they beat:

A decent 1AA team
A 1-11 team
A 5-7 team
A 4-8 team
A 7-5 team
A 2-10 team
A 8-4 team

Combined record for teams they've beaten(not including 1AA): 27-45 (compare to 51-44 for us)

They do not look impressive, and their D has been thrashed for 30+ points 5 times this season(compare to once for us)

If we want to be a player then we need to win this game. Forget about decisively, just prepare hard and play each play one at a time.

a win mean 10 wins, something we've been lacking for a while. This is as big of a game as any.

We were pretty damn arrogant before the Mutt game.

We have a lot more to lose than to gain from the CFA Bowl. I think that is what GTKyle was trying to get at.

If we lose, we give up a large amount of the credibility we have gained this year. If we win, we did as expected. So really, the CFA bowl is just a land mine waiting to be stepped on. Step on it: kaboom ... don't step on it: nothing happens, but you survived.

You can say this about any game: If you win, you keep your mojo. If you lose, your mojo is gone until your next win. Its meaningless and the way Kyle (who I hope for his sake is a parody) put it was beyond arrogant.

This thread can be boiled down to this:

I like that pic there :laugher:. I disagree that every game can be boiled down to being a game where you can lose a lot but not gain much. An example would be the UGA game. If we lost that game, it would have been pretty darn bad. But winning it gave us way more clout than we would have given up if we had lost to them.

Another example is the Buffalo vs. Ball State game. If Buffalo lost that game, it would have sucked for them, but not been that big of a deal. By beating the undefeated favorite in their conference and winning, Buffalo was able to get some national attention.

You should say that blowout win would look much better then a close win. We're year one into the flexbone experiment. We weren't supposed to be in this or any bowl game.

Yes, running all over LSU on national TV New Year's Eve will look nice, but it will also make us a marked team for next season. I personally would like to fly under the radar as long as possible.

I'll take a close win over any type of loss.

Bull. Beating LSU is a big deal anytime, anywhere. If we lose, it depends on what kind of game it is. But ti say we "give up" credibility is silly. We did what we've done so far and nothing will take that away. Bowl games typically don't mean much in the overall scheme of things.
