The fanbase reaction to the coaching search and candidacy will forever be mixed in the initial get-go. Today the reactions were as mixed and focused on Paul Johnson. Yesterday, they were the same for Will Muschamp.
Some think its absurd to eliminate Will for the simple reason he is a UGA product. So I guess that means he would want to fail here, lets not hire him; yet some think that is damning evidence.
Some think it is absurd to eliminate Paul Johnson because he isn't a vibrant young up and comer and has questionable offensive systems, but lets not hire him because he is older; some think his history speaks for itself and he would be a fine candidate.
Speculation, what ifs, drive fan reaction at any instant, and should not influence your ability to pick the best candidate for GT. Everyone, everyday will disagree, there is no perfect option.
The bottom line is the only way, no matter what initial reaction, to get everyone on board is by hiring the BEST coach, the BEST candidate that will get GT to win football games. Which candidate, when sitting in a room with him, makes you believe GT football is in the right hands.
I don't hold penalize you if are older, white, black, asian, short, tall, red or blue; I would expect the same if any coach candidate.
If you haven't met every coaching candidate, one should not damn an option until said action is done, for you don't know one way or another what this individual brings to the table.
So I implore the deciding members, to go an extra step, do what is right for GT, don't be influenced by labels that don't affect ones ability to coach. Pick the best option for the football team. Not for individual satisfactions.
thanks
