For the past 8 yrs, the Orange Bowl could've taken the champion of the Big East or the ACC. Now the Orange will take the ACC Champion unless the ACC champ is in the National Championshiop Game. This is a very, very good strategic move by the Orange. Not that any other Bowl would've jumped into the ACC bed, but that the O Bowl wants to make the statement that the ACC champ will be going to Miami. The Orange also is saying to the Big E, 'don't even lobby to get in our Bowl, as we are taking the ACC & u'll just have to see which Bowl selects u'.

I like the sound of this too, but think it's a bit ballsy for the OB to do it. I would be concerned about revenue the years that Miami wins the conference.

Maybe they were thinking that at least half the time Miami wins the ACC, they'll be in the National Championship game anyway.

I wish that the Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta would have avoided tie-ins and stuck with choosing opponents based on a rotating basis as to order of picks.

To me, it would be a shame that a three year run on a conference title carries you to the same bowl each year. And, I miss the possibility that an ACC Champion has of playing the SEC or Big 12 Champ unless they meet for the National Title.

I would love to see us in the Orange Bowl, of course. But, once winning the ACC becomes frequent practice for us, I would not mind a Tech-LSU Sugar Bowl or even a Texas-GT Fiesta Bowl every now and then to break up the monotony.;)
