I see no lies in that write up. We’ve shown nothing thus far that would indicate that we have the ability to keep things close with a team like Ole Miss. Here’s hoping I’m incredibly wrong, but I also see a blowout this weekend.

I agree, From giving up 2 straight TDs to a FCS team EASILY to only passing for 100 (yes really ) yds to missing a 30 yd FG to not beating the line on either game, etc etc --I see little chance we stay with these guys.

WOW....Couple of take aways.... Concerning stat from the article:

"Georgia Tech was huge favorite over Western Carolina last week. And while the Yellow Jackets got their 1st win of the season, they failed to cover a 24.5-point spread against a team they should have beaten by a larger margin than 35-17."

"Jeff Sims had a forgettable outing, completing 8 of 17 passes for 100 yards and 1 interception"

"in each of head coach Geoff Collins’ 3 seasons with the team, they have ranked 95th or worse in total points per game and 101st or worse in passing yards allowed per contest."

I won't name names, but the defense was definitely downgraded when Charlie Thomas was specifically not on the field.

I agree that passing should have been more prolific in the first half... but we clearly decided we were hell bent on forcing the run in the 2nd half. I think we only threw it like 3 times and that was plenty to win the game. All these mentions of us only throwing for 100 yds are made by a bunch of box score journalists that don't actually watch our games.

I thought Sims threw it ok. He put it in jeopardy a couple of times, which is obviously not something we can afford against a more talented team. He also missed wide to the arm side on a couple of WR out routes that could have gone for 1st downs, but instead ended drives. That has to be better, and I'm sure Weinke has worked on that this week.

I presume we did not want to change the momentum in the second half by throwing interceptions.
On the other hand our young OL needs experience pass blocking.

It was working in 1st half and accounted for our scoring. We should be able to run the ball 2nd half against an FCS team. There were failed passing attempts on our 2nd half 3 & outs iirc. Couldn’t convert a 3rd down in three straight possessions. Meanwhile their backup QB was moving the chains with screens and scrambles much like Davis did. Was an ugly way to close out a game.
