Our frustration against Va Tech

Does our lack of success against Virginia Tech (losing four of the last five) give us any particular advantage in the upcoming game against them Oct 17?
Will we play harder, run faster, have more success against them this year simply because we have lost to them habitually? I say no. You still have to go out and play better than the other team.
In this self-same way, Miami gets no help from the four game losing streak against us. In fact, the frustration of the streak, especially for an undisciplined (assumption here) young team like the Hurricanes, may work in our favor.

I won't say our lack of success would make us anymore success on them because then I may as well say Miami will be beat us. I do think GT will play them with a chip on their shoulder as is MIA tonight.

We'll see.
 
Different teams, different years. No previous rules apply. That's what I say.

It's the reason they shouldn't be saying "Da U is back." And it's the reason we shouldn't be saying, "We raped you on national TV last year, we deserve respect from you guys."
 
The problem as I see it with VTech is last year I thought we were far and away a better team than them and they had some calls that kept them in that game. that is what is so frustrating. We have a better team this year too.
 
In scenarios such as the one you've laid out, I've always used this analogy:

I may REALLY REALLY REALLY want to kick Mike Tyson's arse...but I'm just some average sized white dude with zero fighting skills.

I was pissed, the fans were pissed, and the players were pissed FOR SEVEN YEARS STRAIGHT AGAINST OUR BIGGEST RIVALS. Being pissed and being ready and having your f*** mind rite doesn't mean anything.

It comes down to playing the game, and how you play it. TWO HALVES, gentlemen. We taught Georgia that, and Clemson taught us that. Even if you're down by a 20-something margin, it could still go either way.

Go Jackets, no matter how they play tonight.

I agree with this somewhat, but if we take a 2 td lead against Miami, they may say, "here we go again" in the back of their mind.
 
I'd say the only edge we would have against them, is that PJ was not satisfied that we didn't make it to the ACC CG last year, and the main reason we didn't is because we didn't take care of business against the previous ACC champ. I think that he may have put in some extra prep work for VPI that he may not have done for other ACC schools.

That's just my very uneducated opinion. :)
 
The influence of last year's game cannot be predicted or measured, but to say it's not there at all is sort of silly to me. How could it not be there?
