IMO is going to put us back in the limelight where we belong. I did not want to be rude and hijack an earlier post on the Colombus article, but that article and several other pieces of reading really impress me about our AD!
"I expect to win every game," he said during an interview." "I don't think we can ask a student-athlete to compete on the court or on the field without expecting to be successful. We want our coaches to play within the rules, graduate their student-athletes and compete at the highest level every week. If they do those three things, we're going to be successful."
Now this is WHAT I am talking about. I thinnk we all know if you have to believe that every time you go out to compete you BETTER expect to win!!
"I don't think that next to the service academies we're one of the tougher jobs in the country," he said. "Do we have the resources? Yes. Do we have the population base? Yes. Do we have a supportive, affluent alumni base? Yeah, we've got that. I can tick off plenty of schools that don't have that."
This is looking at our situation REALISTICALLY!! We have many attraction to our school that others do not have and he recognizes that point here. Use our resources to tap every available resource.
"I want to beat Georgia as much as the next guy -- and more, but I really want to win championships. We can't win championships just by beating Georgia."
Baeting UGAY is important, EXTREMELY important, but as he said winning chamionships is what it's all about. Last time I looked our SA's didn't get the jewelry for beating UGAy.
But I still say, "TO HELL WITH GEORGIA"
It's just my opinion, but i do believe we will see the changing of the landscaping in GT athletics over the next few years. Sounds like Dan is formulating a plan and will put it in place in the appropriate time.
It is going to be fun to watch him work our athletic program. He reminds me somewhat of Jeremy Foley at Florida. You do not hear a lot from Foley, but he dang sure makes his presence felt throughout Gainesville and the rest of the SEC.
