We may have witnessed the birth of "The Quadruple Option" today. The pass with a QB who has an strong accurate arm becomes just as important and used as often as the the other three options.

Other observations from today: Some of you may have heard CPJ in the ISP's post game show. He was actually happy and even laughed!

What a game!

The play is called the triple option because the quarterback has three options on the same play. As far as I know there is no play where there are four options.

Add in a bubble screen, which some spread teams have (ie, the A-back on the playerside, runs a bubble screen route outside, and if the QB sees it open he throws it to him).

So, now you know there is a play with 4 options.

you dont run this when you are running a TO play, its a separate play. so, you dont have 4 options during any one play

it can be a read-option pass play, but that is not a Triple Option play. in the TO that A back is running the sweep and the WRs are blocking downfield so a pass would actually result in a penalty

Shovel pass to lineman?

Whatever the ---- we want to call it doesn't matter to me. I'm just glad to finally have a legit passing game.

my own post got me thinking. the trend is to pitch the ball forward so that a dropped pitch is an incomplete pass and not a fumble, but wouldnt that cause all kinds of illegal man downfield and illegal use of hands penalties too?

i guess the refs just dont call it when its just a forward pitch?

No kidding! Seeing Vad throw is just exciting. Haven't had a passer like that since probably Godsey, but this guy can also run and run the TO. Looking forward to the next 2 weeks and next season!

No. Godsey was a timing route passer. Lee is a natural passer - can pick up a moving receiver anywhere on the field and hit him in stride.

As good as Godsey was, Lee is in a much higher league if he continues to develop. You ain't seen nothing yet.

Not if the ball is caught behind the line of scrimmage.
