We started 3 freshman, a true sophomore and a RS junior on the OL. The lines looked solid. The opening for Marshall on his long TD run was beautiful. Shout out to Kenny Cooper for solid work at center. Just a few mistakes from someone that had never played center and played DL in HS. Shit, he blocked TWO VT players on Jordan's long TD run. Chipped the Defensive lineman and then went to the next level and got the LB. On Marshall's long TD run, he stood up #60. Even our fumble to start the second half, our line had blown them off the ball.

LOL at the flop image on that video. I simply can't understand why we have him cutting all the time. He isn't very good at it.

Saw some nice blocks from backs too.

Seems like the last few crops of OL recruits seem to be a bit faster, stronger and meaner.

At least two up front were DL's in HS. Lee and Cooper. Perhaps a player that played DL is better at drive blocking

We actually got push up the middle. Even the announcers on TV were talking about it, which I haven't heard in about 1.5 years. The young guys played very well. I'll take high effort, tough mistakes all day.

Did we do more drive blocking, or was it our normal blocking scheme with better execution? Both?

Haven't watched in slowmo or anything but I noticed some of both. Looked like Bud was putting their MLB about 7/8 yards deep and having home take the pitch man which was interesting.

On MJs long TD run we only cut the backside DE. I'm not smart enough to be sure whether it was midline or a called QB follow, but the OL made a huge hole and sure enough their MLB ran himself out of the play with a decoy pitchman. In fact looks like we were blocking everybody so it wasn't an option play. Just a QB follow up the middle.

Similarly MMs long TD run lools to have been a called dive as we were drive blocking the whole DL. Just another big hole at the line made bigger with their MLB vacating the lane to catch a decoy pitchman.

I read some of the VT board yesterday and a few of them commented that the DL stunting was giving MJ trouble making reads in the 1Q and CPJ started calling a lot fewer option plays which meshes with what we saw in the two big runs. Frankly I'm surprised Bud didn't counterpunch with switching up the defensive assignments more. Maybe he's used to the interior of the DL being able to slow the dive on their own (as VT tends to do against us) but they weren't. Sure is nice to see somebody other than Luther Maddy across from the Center.

Overall CPJ called a masterful game with what we were dealt through injuries/suspensions. We had three true frosh OL, backup BB, and a backup option QB who was struggling with reads and struggling with passes lined up against a DC who has played us better than anybody else. We were 14 point dogs on the road before we knew all of that. If they gave out National Coach of the Week awards CPJ would be the landslide winner.

3 fresh and 1 soph = not enough time to absorb Sewak's coaching

Seriously, I think we moved to bigger linemen and it didn't work. We seem to be heading back to shorter quicker guys.

Was about to post this. They haven't been coached up by Sewak yet.

he also collapses the entire side of the line on goal line situations..wouldn't count him out just yet

He got knocked on his ass in pass protection. I had to rewind and rewatch. He wasn't all the way out of his stance when the DT hit him like he was shot out a cannon.

LOL, did Braun and Cooper chop block the DT on Jordan's long run?
