the crowd was amazing considering we were playing Army.

In a few years we may start selling out every game.

Is that really attendance or tickets sold? It looked A LOT less than 50k.

It was the largest non acc/sec game I have seen. The crowd was into it.

Actually, it didn't. It may have been less than the announced total but it wasn't "A LOT" less. Unless you consider 1-2K "A LOT".

Only major empty sections were in the upper north. Section 210 and 211 I think. I sat in 228 and the section was mostly full and the upper west looked full as well. Most of Sec. 201 and 209 as well as the upper north have looked like no man's land for our other home games except for Clemson and those sections were filled with orange for that game.

We are in lower East, so I'm not sure about above us, but everywhere looked pretty full except for a few sections in the upper North.

Good turn out and atmosphere.

MY section, 227, was not "really" into it. We enjoyed the game, enjoyed the festivities, cussed the TOs, cheered the TDs. But we didn't stand, didn't do WHO DAT every score, some left early, but all left happy.

BIG difference in ACC game and what everyone considered a "sure win".

I think it was a GREAT crowd, but not an emotional one.

It looked great on TV!

Thanks for showing up...unlike myself...but I'm a piece of crap.

:hay:

Hey, make that 50,242 1/2. My son didn't count towards the attendance but he gave it his all for one quarter (he slept the second quarter). We did leave at the half, but I never expected to make it through 4 quarters with a 9-month old. The crowd looked great from 224. Seemed like everyone arrived a little late too. Then again, we got into the stands an hour early just to see it empty and to see the players warming up. My section had quite a few Army fans and one GT Elvis. I have pics that I plan on posting in the photo gallery later this week.

I was working the concession stand at section 113 for our high school band. The stadium looked pretty full to me. A few empties in the upper areas, but not many.

It was homecoming.

That tends to bring some more techies out of the woodword, even if it is army. I don't have the stats, but I'd assume the Samford game had under 50k. Had Samford been our homecoming opponent, I'm confident that we would have had 50k then as well.

I figured that, I just couldn't understand why someone (or multiple people as suggested) were doing this at a Tech game.

it shows many things but I think DRAD, the GTAA, and the marketing efforts deserve most of the credit. It also was a perfect day which caused the over 60 crowd to come out in mass that ususally finds excuses not to go when the temp gets under 60 degrees.

One further conclusion might be that the average fan is not as discouraged by this team or Gailey, etc. as the average poster here. that being said, I have never boo'ed before towards a GT team but many season ticket holders in 224 boo a lot. So, the shareholders seem to be more critical than the average consumer.

Regardless of what it means, it was a very good crowd.

WHO DAT is a fraternity favorite dating back to 1987 or before. Our extry-large block in 227 still does it. We do it TECH style, but it was pilfered from the SAINTS.
