Some probably saw this. The PTI guys were wrapping up the show today by covering all of the recent HC firings. TonyK asked Wilbon which firing surprised him the most --to which Wilbon mentioned Nutt but then talked about Gailey, basically saying, who does Georgia Tech think they are --are they supposed to be competing with the Dawgs now?

Tony Reali closed the show by stating that Georgia Tech actually had the more recent National Championship between the two schools --as to say to Wilbon --why shouldn't they compete with Georgia.

...anyway, that's that.

Most backwoods Georgia "fans" also think they have more National titles, and have won one more recently. As do most Auburn, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia "fans" ... math isn't strong amongst those people.

We have a more recent MNC than Notre Dame. They're more synonymous with tradition than any of the schools you've just listed.

I am glad he asked if we thought we were the Dawgs now? Heck, that is what we need to be doing-trying to get where we can compete with the big time programs on a regular basis. I have no problem with it-that is what I want.

Like it or not the national perception is that Tech is an average (read: mediocre) football program that should be happy to make a bowl game because of our academic restrictions and the superiority of UGA...

People have short memories and probably remember GOL more for lying to ND than leading a solid GT program.... the past 6 years has created this reputation that we now have, although I'm not sure if it was all that much different even when GOL was here since we only had that kind of success for a handful of years.

We all know the great history and tradition of Dodd & Heisman and the old NCs, but you can't expect the highlight-packaged ESPN audience to know that... GA is winning NOW so they are considered the better program. The only way to rectify that is to win and beat Georgia.

What were you saying --you just seemed to RambleON. Just kidding and having a poke at your user name --you actually bring up some good points about GT's rich history and national perception.
