Package for Booker?

I've read CPJ quotes where there is a special package for Booker. I thought we might see that late in the last drive Saturday. I wonder if it's just if Josh goes down. I was thinking it might be a 2-minute passing offense.

I don't think PJ wanted to put the game into the hands of someone that hasn't been in that situation before. Josh had been playing pretty well all game, why take him out? We had 4 minutes to get a score.

Look for this package to be used near the end. Maybe against the team we always play near the end of november.

Josh has been fabulous, just fabulous. Take away our turnovers and we dominate VPI and win by 21. Now admittedly, Josh is to blame for some of our turnovers...

The only package . . .

. . . that Booker is going to get are the Chocolate Chip Cookies his Grandma is going to send him for Christmas. He has been designated the morale officer and as such is ordered to stand, watch and cheer. PJ will handle any signaling in of plays.

It's Nesbitt, Shaw, Dykes and then Booker if the world comes to an end.

Go Jackets!

Re: The only package . . .

If there is one, hopefully it won't be as predictable as the Nesbitt package last year.

I'm getting mixed answers on this from the various boards as no one seems to really know. My biggest question is the purpose of the specialized package. Is it more for if he is needed because of injury or is it for special game situations? I'm not sure Booker gives us much advantage over Nesbitt throwing the ball and the escapability isn't even comparable. But, it may provide an advantage in that Booker would have a package to specialize in and it wouldn't give Josh just something else to learn. Defenses would be hard pressed to be prepared for what might be possible with Booker when all they've seen all week is our triple option offense. If it existed for that purpose, it would've been a good time to bring it out when we got the ball back on our own 12 yrd line with 25 seconds left.

My guess is it's more in case we have to use Booker in a game. There's no way he can run the normal offense so they have to have a modified group of plays for him.

 Jerry, you are correct sir!

PJ will use whatever he thinks we have the best chance to win with. IMO, running his offense gives us the best chance to win now, plus the more it's run the more we'll win in the future.

Any Booker-based offense will be gone next year when he graduates and any time/reps spent on it will not be applicable for the future.

We need as much practice/reps running our base offense as we can get this year.

it would make good sense to have Booker working on something on the side, like some eloborate pass-option scheme where we line up in a shotgun formation and Booker goes downfield to WRs or into the flat or screen to the ABacks or BBacks

i can see us breaking something out against a special opponent to 'mess with their head' and screw up their defensive scheme a little.

while Booker may be gone next year, their could be another QB that could run the same "package" - like Nesbitt - down the road.

i think it would be sweet to catch someone totally off-guard after they have been keying on the GT3O all game

Yeah that makes sense. Lets sit him on the sidelines and never play him all year, then I am sure he will be ready to go for UGA for his "package", just throw him in the fire. Thats classic right there. :laugher:

More then likely the package will never be used, we don't have more then maybe two people to throw to anyways at WR. He might see action against Gardner Webb. Thats probably all.
