We're killing the rest of the country in Yards per Attempt and especially Yards per Completion. It's to the point now that I think teams might actually have to gameplan for it.

Yards per Attempt
1. Tech - 11.45 yds
2. Notre Dame - 9.88 yds
3. Hawaii - 9.74 yds

Yards per Completion
1. Tech - 21.91 yds
2. Navy - 17.93 yds
3. VPI - 17.04 yds

These are good enough to put us 8th in Passer Rating.

Also, just want to point out we're just 3 yards per game behind Wake for 1st in the ACC in Total Offense. We're averaging 405 Yards per Game.

BUT ITS THE DEFENSE!!!

we're doing amazingly well with our offense, pretty much exactly where we need to be now. But the defense reeks! The whole time I was actually uncomfortable with a 2-TD lead. It wasn't enough!

I was too. I miss Tenuta. Wommack needs to go.

Oh yeah, we miss Tenuta!

Who doesn't have fond memories of 800 yard receiving games for uncovered tight ends, unstoppable crossing patterns because no LBs were in coverage, permanent 12 yard cushions by the cornerbacks, and a total refusal to stop blitzing that led to VT scoring two long bombs in the final 6 minutes of the game to beat us on Thursday night a few years ago.

Yes, let's bring all that back please.

At least someone has some sense about defense right now. Apparently turnovers are an irrelevant stat on defense according to many people on here.

I'm pleased we forced 5 turnovers in the game. I'm less pleased that many of them didn't seem particularly forced. I'm unpleased we forced zero punts.

I also think Mullen's offense is under rated, and will continue to get better as the season progresses, making our defensive effort last night look pretty good.

But we do not have the defense of a 10 win team. Not yet. We need to do a better job of reacting to our keys - PJ has mentioned that 3 times in the past two weeks. Luckily we won't be seeing too much more option this year.

I do think our defense has the potential to do fairly well vs FSU and VT, though. Every game on our schedule is winnable.

I agree with this post. Our defense is not ideal. They are mediocre. But they can still get the job done.

We need our offense to continue playing the way they have in the past 2 games to win 10 games. The good news is that the defense can only get better. We are getting the young guys on our defense a lot of good reps this year. Next year we will be better on both offense and defense. And that's just scary...

Anyone know a bit more about what that Sylvester LB has done. I know he was around last year but I don't recall much. I know we saw a lot more of him tonight than previously.

Also, it is quite possible our defense was looking ahead to FSU and didn't really put the work in to learn how defend against a less-typical offense. We'll find out next week.

Guys the answer to Coach Paper! is not to bring back Coach Rock! or find a Coach Scissors!

I am sort of hoping for a coach that understands that you can pick between the three.

Question - who was that guy LSU hired as a temporary consultant to train them how to stop option before the Peach Bowl? Does that guy have a permanent job?

Non-serious question: What defensive scheme would Coach Scissors run? We've seen Rock! and Paper!
