I don't have to tell somebody not to do this. He's not bright enough to make the knot.
In CJP’s defense, if Okogie doesn’t declare early then we are likely a tournament team this year. But ultimately he did, and we are not.
My biggest issue is that his recruiting has not been to an acceptable level. This is especially concerning when it was thought to be his most redeeming trait at the time of hire.
Not sure about this. Okogie leaving was sort of offset by Banks surprisingly getting the NCAA go-ahead to play this season.
I think we will be competitive enough to be in consideration as a bubble team, but will not get selected this year.
I think Pastner will eventually get us there. Not this year, probably not next year, but perhaps the following year.
All 3 of these thoughts are wrong. Congrats.
We can make it next year. A sophomore Devoe, a junior Alvarado, James Banks as a senior and add Jordan Usher into the mix? We will finally be "old". The issue will be what happens after that. We will only be able to "stay old" if we bring some talented new guys in and this recruiting class is a total whiff.
Okogie was a first round pick. Banks has zero chance to play in the NBA. They don't even come close to offsetting each other.
We have our work cut out for us to even be a bubble team for the NIT this year, much less the NCAA. Right now we are not on the radar of either.
Huh? They have to win 5 more ACC games (unlikely to me) just to finish above .500 heading into the ACC Tournament. That’s not even close to being on the NIT bubble.
"They"? Mods, please review posting history for fanship
You watch Tech basketball year after year and still use “we?”
Fan (noun): an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, etc.
Interestingly enough, "fan" is a part of your Stingtalk name.
This post is sad on so many levels
We will never make it with this scam artist leading the program.
There is absolutely nothing good happening for this program to be optimistic about. There is slim chance (may be 0) that we make the big tourney anytime soon. I think they’re doing good job coaching the players that we have ( average talent at best), for us to be in any ACC games. Until he brings in some talented players, there is no hope for the future.
Do you say scam artist because of the Bell thing or because he isn't as advertised as a recruiter? I am losing faith in him myself but just wondering.
What do we do next year when Banks gets in foul trouble as he often does? It would have been better for Banks and our future if we had red shirted him this year and allowed him to develop and get stronger. We seem to be unable to recruit post players or shooters.
But other than that, recruiting is going very well.
Aren't you kinda ignoring that Banks and Usher are old cause they are transfers? While we are whiffing on high schoolers, we are not whiffing on transfers.
We could stay old with transfers.
We do great at recruiting guys who can't shoot.
We are the mirror image of the freshman one and dones. The only problem is that our one and done grad transfers are not NBA lottery picks. At least we get Banks for almost two seasons.
What makes anyone think all the players return? Probably most - but almost every year a player who you are counting on to return leaves / fails-out / goes pro / or something. Tech is not alone in this. This is what adds to the general horribleness of the entire situation...
