The idiotic relationship that led to a picture of our players on watermelon floats in a backyard pool was the beginning of the end. Pastner does not command the respect to get the players needed to turn this around.

They look like a very poorly coached team to me. In his presser, he wondered if their two-a-day workouts had been too much. I just was wondering what in the world they've been working on twice a day because they look lost on the court.

We used to complain about Hewitt's clogged toilet offense but Pastner has the guys doing that or worse. No one setting picks or trying to get any motion going without the ball, just standing around on the perimeter.

It's been 11 seasons since Tech finished in the upper-half (barely) of the conference, tied for 6th with Duke in a 12-team ACC.

...64 games under .500 in ACC play over that span.

    Paul Hewitt
    (ACC) (2000–2011)
    2000-01 Hewitt 17–13 8–8 5th NCAA First Round
    2001-02 Hewitt 15–16 7–9 T-5th

    2002-03 Hewitt 16–15 7–9 5th NIT
    2003-04 Hewitt 28–10 9–7 T-4th NCAA Finalist
    2004-05 Hewitt 20–12 8–8 T-4th NCAA Second Round
    2005-06 Hewitt 11–17 4–12 11th

    2006-07 Hewitt 20–12 8–8 T-6th NCAA First Round
    2007-08 Hewitt 15–17 7–9 T-7th
    2008-09 Hewitt 12–19 2–14 12th
    2009-10 Hewitt 23–13 7–9 7th NCAA Second Round
    2010-11 Hewitt 13–18 5–11 T-10th

    Brian Gregory (ACC) (2011–2016)
    2011–12 Gregory 11–20 4–12 T-11th
    2012–13 Gregory 16–15 6–12 T-9th
    2013–14 Gregory 16–17 6–12 T-11th
    2014–15 Gregory 12–19 3–15 14th
    2015–16 Gregory 21–15 8–10 T-11th NIT Quarterfinals
    Josh Pastner (ACC) (2016–present)
    2016–17 Pastner 21–16 8–10 11th NIT Finalist
    2017–18 Pastner 13–19 6–12 13th

When we conduct the next coaching search in 2020, any utterance of the word "rebuild" should be an automatic disqualification.

Cost to fire Pastner by year ... ? => speculated sum
    2018-19: 100% of 1.7m + 1.9m(?) + 2.0m(?) + 2.2m(?) + 2.4m = ~ 10.2m
    2019-20: 100% of 1.9(?) + 2.0m(?) + 2.2m(?) + 2.4m = ~ 8.5m
    2020-21: 100% of 2.0(?) + 2.2m(?) + 2.4m = ~ 6.6m
    2021-22: 75% of 2.2m(?) + 2.4m = ~ 3.45m
    2022-23: 60% of 2.4m = 1.4m

Why is it GT men's basketball lays a Jurassic Park sized turd shortly after the HC gets extended? And *** **** it Stansbury why extend him after last year?

On the upside ... Gregory and Hewitt will no longer be on the books at the conclusion of this season IIRC.
On the downside ... it's probably not plausible to fire him until the conclusion of the 2020-21 season. How does a few more random losses to SWAC and MEAC and SoCon and Big South teams sound? How does losing losing 6 straight to the inbreds in hoops sound? That's what the program is staring at.

Jesus, that's terrible. With that kind of job security, he has no excuse not to start landing some big time recruits. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Why would you extend someone with a lack of common sense? We should have released him for cause for associating with and exposing our players to the idiot con artist. I suspect this disaster will continue to damage our recruiting as long as Pastner is our coach. Make the necessary change. We will pay him either way. Why offer an extension with no NCAA bid, a losing ACC recordt and no 4 star recruits?

Those are words I never thought I would see typed on here. We're still paying the price for him today, literally!

At least his recruiting gave us a fighting chance.

Please tell me those figures are speculation and are wrong. That can’t be right. If it is, CJP will be here until 2022 almost regardless of results.

This contract (if true) is close to Braine levels of dumb with Hewitt’s program killing contract.

Agreed, but it wasn't worth the price we were (and still are) paying for it.

Yeah, I definitely don't want him back. I just want our current coach to start earning his money on the recruiting trail.

FACT: This Saturday while 99.999999999999% of the college basketball world isn’t looking – Tech will play the UGA Bulldogs at 12:00 noon (McCamish will be half-empty) for who will be considered the 2nd best team in the state - behind "Middle of the Pack Sun Belt League" George State Panthers.

This game – for Tech Fans – is the only game that matters on the schedule. Yes, a one-game schedule!

Thank god Tech plays UGA every year – otherwise it would be a zero-game schedule.

Note: Gardner Web lost to VPI by 28 points.

So negative man. And GSU is not "middle of the pack Sun Belt league". They won the league last year, and are the most talented team in the league this year. I don't know how you can say "middle of the pack" when conference play hasn't even started yet, and they beat ugag and Alabama.

Tech fans actually think that one day before the earth burns out and collapses that the basketball team will make it to the upper half (let alone upper quarter) of ACC Basketball - meanwhile Tech isn't even the best college basketball team within a 3 mile radius of the campus - that title belongs to Georgia State. The whole f*cking College basketball system is so horribly broken beyond reproach. it is sickening... Duke has had 18 one-and-done's this decade. That alone is reason to intensely f*cking despise EVERYTHING about college basketball.
