Can Nix have a more positive effect on Reggie's play now that he is in complete charge of Tech's offense?

I think so. The only way I could quantify that would be to assume that Reggie has always felt like he had two bosses on the sideline with different ideas on how to manage the game and that it took away from his focus on the field.

With one offensive boss hopefully this kind of problem....if it existed at all....would be eliminated.

For whatever the causes, hopefully the offense is going to have it's troubles ironed out this year....for if it occurs Tech will surely roll to a very nice season.

I can only hope so.

Pat Nix was one of the smartest qb's I've ever watched play. I keep thinking he could transfer some of that to Reggie...

I keep thinking back to the NCState game last year...if you recall the offense played dismally the first half...near the end of the half after we had to punt the ball away yet again, Pat Nix got in Reggie's face yelling so loud I could hear him 7 rows up...then he got in PJ's face....then he got in the entire offensive line's face...then he did it all again.

One of the few times I saw FIRE on the sidelines on the coaches part...

Of course as we all know, the offense did MUCH better in the second half and a fluke tipped ball prevented the comeback from being successful.

Giving Nix the full responsibility is a good move that should have happened sooner.

I\'m curious about this too, Stateline

I'm hoping Nix seeing the field from the press box will be helpful. Not sure who will meet with RB as he comes off the field or during time outs. I guess they will be giving Reggie the head set a lot.

I agree with you. I have heard some rumblings from past associates and players that the reason Chan kept calling plays was because Nix was no where near being a D-1A OC. i am hopeful that he is finally at this point. Anything is better than where we were. Time to crap or get off the pot.

Not too long ago...

I searched Henderson St.'s archives for Pat Nix's big offensive year when he was the HC there. He set all kinds of records offensively, and I'm hoping he can bring some of that to GT's offense this year.

Of course, the defense at Henderson couldn't stop anyone, so they lost most of their games....

Re: Not too long ago...

Often there is a correlation to bad defenses with huge offensives.

This one is totally up to Reggie, not his OL, his WR's, or the coaches.

He has been taught, taught, taught...on the field and in the film room.

He simply has to be able to read better (per ACC coach comments recently in Sporting News I believe), not lock into the receiver he is targeting (another comment per ACC coach recently in Sporting News I believe), and keep is mechanics in place when a play starts to break down (do not panic...he has more time than he things sometimes).

Have you ever seen the truly great onss, for instance, still have perfect mechanics and step into a throw while having a defender grabbing them around the lower leg? I have seen shots like this time and again and that is called composure.

Reggie is a senior so everyone is hoping it is his time. It certainly turned on for Jason Campbell at Auburn after they wanted to crucify him.

You dont think Jason Campbell's senior season had anything to do with the fact that he had a new coach? You think it just miraculously turned on? I have to disagree with you if that is how you feel.

I am sure that was part of it. But you also never know when a kids light bulb will turn on.

Fair enough.....I just think it would have occured somewhere in his first three seasons as a starter.

Of course the light may have already come on. We may have already seen the best of Reggie Ball.

Please don't say that. I have to be able to sleep at night...

There are many different Paths...

Reggie might go down this next season: He may regress, and we have to put in QB #2, he may stay about the same, he may improve, or he may explode in the new system.

No-one (of us fans) really knows what will happen. But, it's SUmme before the season, optimism is high, and we all can hope Reggie will do real well in the new offensive system.
