The state's sports media had a "pigskin preview" which was hosted at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in Macon on Wednesday June 27, 2007. The Telegraph reports that 4 of the state's 13 colleges that have a football program, were not represented at the event. Georgia Southern University's head coach, the article explained, missed the event due to a scheduling snafu. The Telegraph goes on to report : " The only missing head coach of the nine teams on hand was Georgia Tech's Chan Gailey."

Guys, are we having a Football camp at GT this week? Because that is the only good reason I could come up with that a head coach of a major Football program would miss such an event. Unless, he may have been holed up in his bunker polishing up his resume' and faxing it out to NFL owners.

Seriously though, this dunderhead is a poor excuse of an ambassador for Georgia Tech Football.

 But kudos go to the Telegrah for the fine article. And a shout out to the fine Student Athletes that represented the Institute well. (Andrew Gardner, Durant Brooks, and Daryll Richard)

Darryl Richard would be a great representative by himself, the very definition of a Student Athlete, having already earned his degree, and seeking a graduate degree.

Well, a quick reveiw of RamblinWreck shows that we have individual camps for 11th and 12th graders on the 7th and 7 on 7 passing camps July 8-13. So evidently that's a good reason. According to the article I saw on line, this is scheduled for the 9th?

But here's my main question. It took me approximately 30 seconds to find the information. But instead of looking you just decide to assume the worst and bitch about Chan....again. I think that says a lot about you.

Actually, GT hosted the GACA from across the state and personally I think his presence and the other Tech coaches present this week hosting coaches from across the state is much more important.

Nice of you to name call though.

So, what is on your agenda today?

My post has been edited. You now see that the correct date of the Pigskin Preview was June 27, and the article was in the paper on 06/28..... not 06/08. The keys on my keboard tend to stick sometimes. Okay, I checked and Tech is not hosting any football camps June 25th-29th. And 'mover, I checked the GACA Coaches website also, and find that there is no mention of Georgia Tech hosting the event. I only see that John Bond, and Charles Kelly are listed on the schedule as speakers on June 27th. No mention of Gailey in the program. Are there no media relations responsibilities in his contract? Wouldn't a gathering of all (or most) of this state's sportswriters to talk about the upcoming football season, be an opportune time for the public face of a Major College Football program to make an appearance?

I wonder why when I called down to the offices about a recruit and to talk to Coach Smith he told me all the coaches were there hosting and participating in this event.

Of course Giff could be lying, Just because a few are speaking doesn't mean the others are sitting down there with the thumbs up their arses, they are continuing to build relationships with these guys.

But continue to name call if you insist!

I have no reason to believe that either you or Coach Smith are lying, but if what you contend is the truth, then some public acknowledgment of it in the press would have been a huge plus. But that still leaves the question at hand:

Shouldn't he be out there making a BUZZ (pardon the pun) about our program? Have I somehow missed the story about how all of our Home games have been sold out?

Hmm, gathering of sports-writers or gathering of high school juniors and seniors (aka - possible recruits)?

Speaking of Smith, I met his aunt and uncle the other day here in Vidalia. Very nice couple. Very proud of both their nephew and the Institute. They saw my Tech shirt and had to come over and comment on it.

I can personally tell you that the coaches were shuffling back and forth to the clinic in Marietta.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

I believe it's usally held at the Marriott off of Windy Hill or at least it was last year when I met a friend for lunch.

I mistakenly said down at Tech but meant Tech was hosting it again this year. My buddy said that they do a great job.

Could be that CCG just can't be known for having his nose up the media's arses.

Could be that CCG has more pressing business on the home front than worrying with this media.

Could be that no matter what CCG has to say, the media will make him out to be a..........what was it? a dumberhead?

I sure do admire CCG for being more concerned about matters at home instead of running all over the state just so he can be jumping in front of cameras. That's Paris Hilton's job anyway, LOL:::::)))).

Mover,

Have you not had a chance to take your laxative today!!!:laugher: This reply makes you sound like you are full of sh*t!!!:laugher:

Come on buuuuuuuddddyyyyyyyyy.

Haven't been over there in 6 months are they having fun?

Same old same old. When the Hive shut down all political talk on the Water Cooler, GTOrlando led a OT exodus to Buzzoff, which has tended to provide a bit of balance in their Chanbashing, but the moderator still locks threads if they get too pro-Chan, which is pretty stupid. /shrug. It's funny to watch.

FWIW, I'm glad nobody can see what's posted there without approval - keeps potential recruits from viewing it and hurting our program.

Unfortunately, it was just a problem with the board for a while. IT's wide open now. They don't even block the Off-Topic forum.

I think he will need a paramedic to remove the foot from his mouth.
