Some at Navy are angered by the fact he would do this on December 7. Do you think PJ has thought of this. FWIW

I'm sure no disrespect was intended. PJ's hand was forced - he had to respond today. Not his choice.

It wasn't like this was a suprise attack either...

PJ isn't even a military man! Come on now, that's just a little much. I'd be pissed he's leaving too, but thats just wrong to try to guilt him on history.

(BTW this is my first post here at ST, I post at Hive, but this place is funnier. I've lurked for a while, but wanted to wait until the HC crap was over until I started posting.)

I'm not saying it was right or wrong just telling you what some at NAvy are saying. They take respect to history seriously. I noticed this the two trips that we have made up there. They were some of my favorite road trips.

I can understand some of the thoughts at the Academy. They are losing a good man and will not be able to come close to replacing him. All this on a day that is nothing but sad memories.

I had not thought of this, but yes, the timing is very bad. December 7 is remembered less and less as the years go by by the general population, but there has never been a darker day for the US Navy than the "infamous" attack on Pearl Harbor. Wish he could have talked with his team yesterday.

Football at Annapolis is awesome to behold. My trips to view Tech games have been memorable. I am truly sorry we took their coach on Devember 7.

Sorry, I don't see the nexus between war and a team sport

Thanks 77. Great post. And with a name like Jacque I can understand why you don't see the revelance of this. Probably still wonder what the importance of June 6th is even though that is when we saved your ass.

The significance dawned on me earlier today (the Naval Academy/Dec 7th thing for you morons) but I'm sure it wasn't a considerable factor.

Big wheel keeps on turning!

Well, if he wasn't going to do it today, he would have done it yesterday IMO. I think they're just upset and reaching for more reasons to be mad.

Wow, that's an awfully presumptuous response.

It was just a coincidence that today we just "bombed" Athens.

Perhaps we can make it up to Navy by wearing navy blue jerseys next year....gold headgear, blue jerseys and white pants. Stunning. Just like in 1990.
