Not trying to bash anyone here, but my impression of CCG is that he is a defense - first type of coach by putting his best athletes there and playing a very conservative, "play not to lose" offensive style. I think the offensive production in ppg during his tenure supports that theory as do the comparative national unit rankings of the offense and defenseover the same time. This can be effective as the Ravens to name one example won a SB using this philosophy. However,IMHO, this style doesn't fit an organization that wants an "offensive minded coach".
Some may say he did not have the personnel to do otherwise. At the risk of making a decision based on one data point, I think the Gator Bowl performance dilutes that point somewhat.
