I like having defensive coaches who played at big-time programs and in the NFL. It brings a level of respect from the players and a tenacity in the coaching. We should see great improvement on defense next year.
 
On a related/un-related note, does it surprise anyone van Gorder hasn't been picked up anywhere?
 
Soo.... this guy didn't get picked up in 2012 or 2013? Or am I missing something? That would be a bad sign.

Not an overly impressive hire based solely on his resume, but we shall see. Brought in a 4 star his last year at Auburn, but not exactly hard to do at Auburn.

Yes. Roof will be in charge of kicking the living snot out of any player who stops short of puking up his intestines.

That's one thing I like about Roof as DC. No one who ever plays for him from now until the day he retires can say: 'you don't know what its like.'

If you saw Roof play back in the day, you would know exactly what I'm talking about.

Well, I'd say he did get picked up in 2013.

I'm not overly concerned.
 
well, he was at valdosta in 2000 with kirby and muschamp, so he might have picked up a thing or two.

He was at Vandy in 2010 and Auburn in 2011 and 2012 I believe.

I can't believe this. I am absolutely disgusted by this hire. We are screwed. Goodbye PJ. It was good knowing you. It will take years to recover from this.
