The meeting manana is probably just about the $$$.

The sad thing is that it appears that any coach that wins at GT will just move on after 5 years because we will always be behind from a $$$ perspective. Curry, Ross, O'Leary, Gailey, next?

I can't do a thorough search from my locale, so can anyone find where we rank as far as our HC $$.

Most programs, I would think, don't offer NFL dollars, but are we in line with others?

We're about mid point from the ESPN tables out earlier this year. Something like 45th in D-1A IIRC.

Well this may be true but one of the things that could happen is that our new Athletic Director may do a good job of turning around the financial situation in the Athletic Association. If he is able to accomplish this, and I recognize that it is certainly a multi-year project, and we are able to win consistently (including wins over UGA and bigger bowl wins than the minor ones we've won in the last few years - and I don't look at those as gift horses, I truly enjoyed those wins) then more money might be easier to lay hands on, if you get my meaning.

If that happens then perhaps we'll be able to upgrade our salary to a coaching staff. Certainly we can't compete with NFL teams and we can't compete with what Alabama, Texas A&M, and many other large football factories can offer. But if we can stay competitive with the national averages and be somewhat higher than those then we should be able to attract high quality coaches. Then perhaps we'll be able to catch lightning in a bottle one of these times like other schools have, but until then we'll press on and recognize that we just have to do a great job of finding the best coaches we can who can help us win enough to keep us in the top 25.

But none of those coaches left because of the money...sure the money was some factor, it always is, but the real motivating factors were:

*Curry - an opportunity to win an MNC at Alabama
*Ross - to prove himself a success at every level of the game
*O'Leary - to take his dream job at the most storied program in the nation
*Gailey - frustration over meddling with his staff and lack of support from the administration

(note: Gailey's motivations are supposition on my part, but I think we'll learn the true motivations in the coming weeks and months)

Mutual agrrement with Gailey- Alumni and D'Rad glad and Gailey glad if this happens. Gailey gets a $3-5MM job in NFL where he belongs, D'Rad gets a chance at uniting the Alumni base, and start to fix the financial crisis if he can. We'll see, but it was NEVER going to happen under Gailey even if he went 10-2, thats an obv fact.
