I like key and he is easy to pull for but today is 100% on the coaching staff. Some of the most idiotic play calling I've seen in a long time.

I'm not saying fire them or anything but buster has gone from a hot commodity to looking like he would be lucky to coach his hometown high school.

Pretty tough to watch. On offense our coaches don’t adapt very well. It reminds me of Chan. This one is on the coaches, just like the Cuse game. I am a little worried now about Key now. These things are adding up now and losing for us.

These games make me wonder if we would in fact be better off in the SEC. The two losses this year remind me that dumb losses seem to occur much more frequently against more northern teams where we seem to have poor focus.

The floor under him is considerably higher than it was under Collins. There's a baseline level of competence that the team plays with. But the defense is still bad, particularly against the pass, and the questionable coaching decisions are magnified in close games.

I like Faulkner's general system and play design, but neither he nor Key seem to have a good feel for how a game is going. They call the game how they want it called regardless of the results or what the defense is giving up.

Team looks significantly worse than last year.
There were plenty of ugly games last year. Haven't had a Bowling Green type performance yet. I'd say they're on about the same level as last year's team, which is a team that will be trying to win a sixth game in November to make a bowl.

This is the problem. Anybody watching the game knew running up the middle wasn't working. We had some success with quick passes but kept going back to running it up the middle. Throw it till the defense adjust and stops it. Then maybe go back to running.

It's like they draw up the plays on Thursday and call them no matter what has been happening in the game.

Lost to a Top 20 team (since so many on here love Polls this early in the season). Biggest issue with the team was what was supposedly to be the strength of the team OL, and specifically run blocking.

The lack of running game against Syracuse was the 1st cause for concern, today confirms some changes need to be made during the bye week to shore up the OL run blocking.

Blame the defense all you want, the D did not lose this game. Period.

This was always a 6-6, 7-5 team, so 3-2 is exactly where they should be based on the schedule preseason on paper.

Don’t know if it is King or Faulkner, but our O isn’t going anywhere with >5 yd passes only. Defenses are already crowding up to stop the run. We didn’t get moving until we started put some air under the ball.

Defense did not look very good, but agree that they didn't lose it. We lost due to general stubbornness an abundance of mistakes and poor decisions, only one of which really falls on the defense (the PI touchdown play).

The problem isn't so much that we lost. Yes, we're not world beaters and losses will happen. It's just that the actual action of the game demonstrates a pattern of highly questionable decisions that can't just be dismissed with "this is where we're supposed to be."

I don’t disagree. To have as many 3rd and 4th & 1’s and line up in the shotgun is just plain dumb at this point. Go under center and fall forward. Worked for TB12, and now the Eagles have it down to a perfect science with Hurts.

But that’s on the coaches to figure out before 4-0 Duke (who may be 5-0).

The problem on D isn’t the x&o. Our DL can’t get pressure. Our LB aren’t fast enough to cover for the amount of time needed for our DL to get pressure.
And I’m not sure how tall our CB are. They look like 5’10” or so, which is a major handicap against a lot of the receivers they will face.

Yeah, our 1st&10 defense is a much bigger issue than our 3rd&long defense.

Yeah, I think it's too early for me to have any strong opinions about our new defensive staff. Much more disappointed in the coaching on the offensive side right now. Feels like they are routinely making things way more difficult for themselves than they need to, and I'm not sure what it will take for them to figure that out.
