Guess there's a way b/c we are offerring but it seems like it would come at a huge cost to the GT Football program....
1. Gailey's buyout
2. Stadium Debt
3. Navy's Buyout
4. PJ Salary
5. Cost of new coaches

There would (must be) DEEP DEEP POCKETS or a Brinks armored truck standing by for a HUGE delivery if we can entertain such a thought....Then again if those resources are available is this the BEST USE of them?....(Man I am glad I am not in DRAD'S shoes right now).....gotta to be a BIG HEADACHE....w/ big impact/ripple effect....pending the results of this hire...:fingersx:

His package was going to be highly incentive based, which is why he wont take it.

Interesting. Seems DRad is on the same wavelength with Stingtalk on that one.

Anybody got the link to our last discussion about incentive based contracts?

Execept for the money, there really isn't a comparison for him to make.

If he wants to play in the C-USA then do we really want him here? We need someone that wants to win a BCS conference. Not, to be the king of C-USA.

In my humble opinion

PJ is at an age where if he goes to a rebuilding situation that it will very likely be his last job. If he ever aspired to winning a MNC or playing in the big bowls then SMU is not an option.

Gailey's salary = 1,035,000
Number of Home Games = 7
Avg. Ticket Price = $35.00

1,035,000 / 7 = 147,857

147,857 / 35 = 4,225

We only need to sell an extra 4,225 tickets per home game each year to pay Gailey's remaining salary. We should be able to do that with a new HC easily.

Please tell me you realize ticket sales have to cover more than just the coaches salary. there's 8 other coaches that need to be paid, and other athletic employees, and many other things.

TV money, bowl money, ACC money, donations. Do you really beleive we do not have any money? Would you give as much if they said there was a huge surplus?

One would assume that since we were in the black last year, those things are already covered in JTS's estimate.

What JTS left out is that we need to sell 4225 more tickets to cover Chan's salary, and how many more to cover the new guy's increased salary? And how many above that to cover the new guy's buyout?

All that just screams Hatcher to me. I can't believe he wasn't our #2 guy.

We are and are going to continue to be in the black. We should be at least $2.0M in the black in the next fiscal year. So if we can increase ticket sales 4,225 per home game, we should easily be able to cover the new HC salary plus have plenty of money for a staff.

The lack of D-1 experience must really be playing on DRad's mind --thus making him reluctant to pull the trigger on a guy like Hatcher. He's been my #1 guy from day one --but I'm a Statistician --not the (fairly) new AD at Georgia Tech.

If WM was DRad's guy but was blocked --and PJ doesn't come aboard --I'm beginning to think DRad may just go with the man already on staff --JT.

Maybe, and my intent is not to start another rumor, he believes (or has even been told) that Hatcher would not be approved by the board either, but for different reasons obviously than Muschamp? Maybe it is not DRad who doesnt like him?
