PJ is a GREAT GAME COACH

I was so impressed with the game coaching/management today. PJ is on top of the clock and the game. We haven't had a game coach this good since Ross and Dodd.

I agree. If Chan Gailey is the coach we lose this game. CPJ made the right halftime adjustments. Players were not tired at the end of the game; rather, BC's players proved to be the tired ones.

and the timeout before their end of half fieldgoal....golden! that miss ended up being the difference in the game. great stuff!!

You can just see his confidence that he knows what he's doing and that it's going to work. It has to rub off on the players. I also like how animated the Asst coaches are.

I'm not sure which one it was, but did you see one of the assistants absolutely ripping into the offense after one of the fumbles? I thought he was going to have a stroke.

The better one was when the coach ran onto the field right after a play, grabbed a player and hauled him off the field.

I think that was CPJ who went out on the field. That receiver is the one who made the tackle.

I think that play was the same that was called later in the game when Dwyer ran for the TD. Greg Smith missed the outside blocking assignment and it went for naught. On 790's interview after the game, CPJ said that he called that play twice when he caught them in "cover 2" and knew if he could get past the seam, it would go for a TD. I noticed it immediately that Greg Smith(#5) missed his block, and the assistant? came in grabbed his jersey and just threw him off the field. That's the type of coaching we need. Watching this game on TV demonstrated how much CPJ was in the middle of the huddle's getting them fired up. CCG lots of times would be huddled with the other coaches during time outs.

That was Jeff Monken who pulled Smith off the field. He coaches the A-Backs.

BTW, just to defend Greg Smith (maybe because I am in such a good mood after a great game), but the guy he was supposed to block is a LB, and not a DB. As Wes mentioned throughout the game, BC was running a 4-4 with a LB on short side of field in place of a CB. However, I thought Greg Smith did not give good effort at trying to block the LB, which is probably what infuriated Monken more.

Last years team would have given up after 3 turnovers and a missed FG. The character of the team has definitely changed this year.

I did not think we played very well for the most part today. But, we played very hard. That's what is nice about the win and a credit to the coaches - getting a conference win on the road because you played hard.

I have never seen a team so proud and happy to get a win. They really enjoyed the win and let me tell you they deserved it.

This is the hardest working, grittiest team I have seen at Tech in almost ten years.

Doc Walker said something very interesting right after BC's last field goal. He said WTTE that BC just scored and they are walking off the field acting dejected and Tech is the team that looks happy.

That's when I realized that we are now PJ's team.

G Smith did not have a good day. Missed at least one pass too.

He needs to take it like a man and bounce back.

I'm glad you guys are seeing the PJ i've known all too well. Also, just to be a realist, we are not going to win them all this year so please be reserved when we do lose that first one. Just know we are headed in the right direction. The BCS MNC Direction!

It's important to note that we finished the game on offense FORCING first down after first down! That's the new spirit!

I've been out for awhile, so I don't know if this was posted before. But I was amazed how the defense held up in the first half after three fumbles, including one at the 10. They refused to let the game slip out of their control, while CCG's teams got in a "here we go again" mode when turnovers and big plays happened.

CPJ is the type of coach the ACC is missing. The lack of coaches who keep their players tough and committed is the reason why ACC loses so many close OOC games.

Greg Smith knows his job to get linebackers. The A-backs know that going in. And if they don't block, they don't play.
On Saturday's game, that's the great thing about this team and this staff. They will find a way to win. Somebody's defense is going to stymie the offense (any offense) on a given day, and BC's D-line was handing the O-line its lunch all afternoon. That means the defense is going to have to steal one and it looks the D has grown up in a hurry. They were very impressive yesterday.
FWIW, Monken may make a good HC for somebody one day.
