PJ post game presser

I feel generally as positive as one could be after a loss, but somehow hearing this doesn't help.

It would be nice if we didn't have to call timeouts so early in the second half so we could use one to help our defense regroup and try to break the opponent's momentum. If there's one criticism I have of CPJ it's his use of second half timeouts.

Perhaps he thought he would not need them at the end of the game. Up until the first early timeout, things were going so well even I was getting cocky about the outcome.

You can never assume you won't need your timeouts. He's done this consistently over the years. My favorite (not really) is when we burn a timeout on 4th down when a 5 yard delay of game would actually help the punter pin the opponent deep.

I hope if some team kicks our butt for 4 quarters this season, we will get a miracle win as a payback for last night. It would make me feel better about this loss.

weren't two of those timeouts to prevent a delay of game?

The timeout near the goal line made sense to me...was it a 3rd and 1? But it did seem like we got the play in late. Also, if it's the one I'm remembering, one of the OL didn't know the play, which took a few seconds. CPJ went crazy at him during the timeout

It looked like both the tackles came back to TQ after the huddle break with a question, maybe there was some blocking tweak for them that wasn't given clearly in the huddle?

One of the timeouts was after a TV timeout, during which the officials reviewed tape and decided that Benson knee was down, so they moved us from 3&1 to 3&9, at UT's 25 or thereabouts. Then we missed the conversion and at 4&8 (or something) we trotted the offense out there. CPJ came running onto the field, called a TO, and then sent out the FG team. That made absolutely no sense to me.

A 5 yard penalty can derail an entire drive and cost us 7. I think you've got to take those timeouts. Did he look happy to you about taking them? Maybe you were at the game, he flipped out at Kenny Cooper after one
