in 2004, GSU scored more points against UGA than any other team in the SEC or even us could against them that year. This was with PJ's protege Mike Sewak coaching the team, imagine if PJ was still around then.

The Hambone* works in SEC against a 10-2 UGA team, why wont it work against the ACC? Just imagine if GSU had GT's Defense that year, they coulda actually won, with less schollies and less talent than GT.

*That was the old name for Pj's Offense rather than flexbone, named after Tracy Ham.

Whenever a team finds a new coach, everyone is able to point out a couple optimistic facts or "signs" that the new coach will be good.

I feel with PJ that new stats/signs just keep coming

Well alot of people think that this O wont work on our level, I was just thinking about things that might remind people otherwise. Some people around here seem to have a raincloud mentality about our future. I just believe were in good, no make that GREAT, hands!

If Bill Bellichik thinks it will work, then that is all the I need to hear for now. We'll see for sure in 8 months.

Johnson wasn't coaching at GSU in 2004.

They may have been running the same offense, but it wasn't his. Johnson coached an Adrian Peterson led team to a 29-7 loss in 2000. I remember them rolling up a lot of yards that day.

In that 2000 game, PJ had a first year QB and it was raining. Peterson rushed for about 150 yards, which no other back did that year on UGA. The game was actually much closer than the score. GSU moved it well in the middle of the field, but the lack of a confident passer hurt them that night.

2004 was different. GSU ran for 300 yards and had a passing TD. UGA really didn't stop GSU. There was a called fumble (replay showed it was not) against GSU that cost them points and Thomas Brown returned a punt for a TD. Otherwise David Greene, David Pollack and company had their hands full. GSU's 28 points were not against the scrubs. Richt say they had no answer to stop the offense. They simply outscored GSU.

It would have been great to see GSU in the early 90's (when they were winning all the 1-AA NCs) go up against Ray Goff's uGay and whoop the puppies asses.

GSU actually won a NC in 2000, but it took three or four games to get the new QB, JR Revere, from LaGrange up to speed, especially in the passing game.

In 2004, Chaz Williams was the QB and he was a four year starter at QB, so his knowledge of the offense was much better.

Yeah the rain in 2000 game kept Peterson under 200 yards and killed a chance for the upset for GSU.
