“That’s one thing we discussed as a team. In the past, every time we had a good season, the next season wasn’t as good. We’re trying to break that cycle,” said senior defensive end and soon-to-be four-year starter KeShun Freeman. “So this offseason, everything we did was very intentional. We made sure that everyone was going the extra mile so we could have a better season. Each guy is motivated and knows that you have to do a little bit more to get the extra. We’re excited.”

That excitement was obvious during summer conditioning with director of player development John Sisk.

“I feel like this summer has been the hardest summer I’ve ever been through,” said redshirt junior A-back Qua Searcy, who bookended last season with a key fourth-down catch on the game-winning touchdown drive in Dublin, Ireland against Boston College in the opener and the game-winning score in Athens against Georgia in the regular-season finale. “We’re trying to build on what we’ve already started and not just have on
e good year then the next year slack a little bit. We want it to be a consistent thing.”

If we win ten games this year (one of which is uga), I think Kirby Smart suddenly decides he wants to spend more time with this family.

After 2009, on offense we lost a lot of skill players except qb. After 2014, we lost almost all our skill players except qb. This year is sort of the mirror image of those years, i.e. different qb but all the other skill players back on offense. They have broken my heart so many times when I expected a follow up good year, but I thirst for Kool-Aid. The GT DNA can be reset. We are at the start of the Golden (and White) Age. Next year we will be worrying that we might not repeat as National Champions.

I mean... Last year was good because we beat UGA and beat up on an SEC team in the bowl, along with a good win against VT away.

But we also came in 5th in our division and went 4-4 in conference. We were never ranked once. To me, that's nothing to get apathetic about and it damn well better not happen. That's only something to build on and if they're worth a shit they'll recognize that and stay focused.

The Tennessee coach said our OL is the best PJ has had. Is that true? If so, we are going to be in good shape.

I tend to agree. I would say 2009 and 2014 were great seasons and 2010 and 2015 were letdowns. Last year was good season but I don't see it on the same level as the ones mentioned. It is good that the players are not overconfident. Now it is incumbent upon us to make sure ST doesn't get a big head.

In 2015, I think the Athlon preseason rankings picked Tech to have the best OL in the ACC, and that turned out to be way off, so I won't trust anyone's predictions at this point.

The 2014 line owned FSU/UGA/MSU in three consecutive games down the stretch. Shaq may the best OL CPJ has ever had. At one point against MSU we ran 6 or 7 consecutive dives starting with Days's long TD and ending with JT5s midline TD the following possession. And each went for 6-12 yards. I still remember screen shots from the 2nd half of that UGA game where the MLB was moving backwards at the snap to avoid getting bulldozed. If this line is as good as that one was then we should be in good shape.

Four of the five came back the next year, and we couldn't do crap. Shaq may have been the best lineman in the history of college football.

Didn't we have a lot of injuries in 2015? I thought that's what PJ said.

But yeah, I get the prediction thing. I haven't seen where PJ discusses this year's OL, but I'd like to hear what he says. I've probably just missed it.

No doubt. I hope that's what we've got. I'm going to go with Tennessee's coach on our OL until I hear otherwise.
