Plea to Rad..

Re: Stick..

I'm a draft man myself. I just don't want to have to pay $1,200 per year (2 seats) to get a beer...

I honestly don't see it changing much, and any change would likely be for the better as people wouldn't be getting as liquored up as possible before kickoff. As such, I am neutral on the issue and really couldn't care less either way. The jerks are going to be jerks regardless of if they have a beer in hand or not, they just use that as an excuse for acting like a jackass.
That said, do we really need another overpriced concession?

RP, I agree that if a person is a jerk they are going to be a jerk. However we can't ignore that people DO become less inhibited, or at least most do, when they have some alcohol in them and that many times their personality becomes enhanced and so they act even worse than they normally would. And to be fair if you are a really cool person then sometimes alcohol enhances that part of your personality too so it isn't all bad.

I also agree with your comment that many use alcohol as an excuse for their behavior! Excellent observation!!!

I don't understand, though, how any change would likely be for the better. I disagree mildly with this statement but am open to your thoughts and would like to ask for a little more information on why you think that. I'm not saying, by the way, that any change would automatically be for the worse. I'm leaning towards change being somewhat minimal either way.

Like you I'm somewhat neutral on this issue (which is of course why I'm so open to hearing other people's thoughts :)).

Mostly because they're have beer and with the cost they've likely be sobering up faster than they're getting more sloshed from the flasked Old Crow (I kid, I hope our fans at least have Jack/Beam) they're sucking down now. And if you're visibly overly intoxicated the vendors will hopefully have enough sense to cut you off.

my recollection of going to almost every home game since 1984 is that the cursing is no worse today than the first game I attended in 1984

I don't recall things being as bad as they have been. Of course I could be getting old, but it seems that it now permeates music, movies and all other parts of life a lot more than it did in the 80's. Alice Cooper was shocking in the 70's, but he looks like a kid's act compared to Marylin Manson and most rap music is now vile. I had to run suicides after basketball practice in HS (early 80's) for saying "Damn" and slapping my hands together after committing a foul in a game.

I recall having very good times through the 70's and 80's and I don't recall the "F" word being flung around the way it is now during a game.

Like I said, I could be getting old.
