Resorting to personal attacks now, are you? That isn’t my name.

And as to your point of NFL talent before but not after CPJ, well when exactly do you think the current academic requirements came into effect?

I know - I don't think GSUDoofus has figured it out yet either.

the scholarship limits were put into place from 2005-2008 and CCG's best recruiting year was in the middle of that so not sure what point you're trying to make there.

I agree we're tough to get into. The scheme hinders us further. For all the excuses for CCG that the 17th-ranked class of 2007 was a one-hit wonder, it sure as hell beats a no-hit wonder. I wonder how great 2008-09 would've been without it?

I'd rather have one hit wonders in the fall than on national signing day. And Paul has had two, almost 3.

Weirdest thing for me is the amount of CPJ's 4 stars that are busts.

Why is he relevant?

I guess because we could never hire a better coach than ccg. Just like we can never hire a better coach than CPJ.

51% against P5 schools over a 10 year period is all we can ask for.

True, but since CPJ was hired, which other ACC schools have made better hires?

Clemson, Duke

Arguably Miami and FSU, but I don’t think either of those guys (or Dabo) would out perform CPJ at Tech.

Richt & Dabo at GT would make CPJ look like a failed Gray-Y coach.

without the 2007 NFL talent? No chance in hell.
My point was that CPJ doesn't need "CCG's NFL Talent" (or whatever) to win at the 2009 level.

In 2009 we lost to Iowa (finished #7), Miami (#19) and UGA (NR); we beat VT (finished #10) and twice beat Clemson (finished #24).

In 2014 we lost to FSU (finished #5) and to Duke (NR) and UNC (NR); we beat UGA (finished #9), Miss. St. (#11), and Clemson (#15).

Even if you set aside the unique hatred for UGA, 2014 was a better season than 2009. And it was done without a single CCG player.

A fair enough point and I definitely agree that 2014 >>>> 2009.

I still stand by my belief that 2008-09 don't happen without 2007 though. But I respect the argument you make here.

This is what we've become. A tough game with Duke.

Long live Coach Johnson.
He’s right. And you really can’t say that a talent difference exists either.. Cut recruits at Duke(basketball school) just as good as CPJ. Sad.

How many Orange Bowls has Duke won in the past 10 years? How many ACCCGs have they been to?

I was mainly talking head to head. You make a great point though! Those wins don’t effect the “probability” of us beating them this season though( which we will).

Someone made a good point earlier in this thread I think that Cut had a certain knack for exploiting Ted Roof's defense. To me it is his offensive scheme and Miami showed how to exploit it as well. And not every team thinks the same way, although maybe they should. Probably some arrogance involved as well. We all know that Teddy has it in spades.

My point is that Duke and Cutcliffe have been a bad matchup for us, as was UNC. Teams that have a varied passing game can carve Ted's defense up because he doesn't like to blitz and put pressure on the QB. He likes to control the LOS and stop the run, and he was generally good at that. But at what expense.
