Sat, Nov 11 vs Virginia Tech - TBD PM ET

Last game: Virginia
Next game: Duke

ESPN Pre-Season FPI: 31
GT / VT FPI Differential: +1.4

Who among us can forget that amazing game last fall, when GT walked into Blacksburg and stunned the Hokies with a last minute sub at QB? It was the first of 4 straight solid victories to close out the season, and helped get the bad taste of a UNC blowout out of our mouths. We all felt a lot better about this year's QB situation after seeing Jordan Matthews's amazing performance!

VT's loss to us was a mark on an otherwise strong 10-4 record in 2016. It might be difficult for Fuente to repeat that feat, as his offensive talent has largely moved in, losing several QBs, RBs and WRs. Similarly, the Hokies lose a significant portion of their defensive experience as well, and will be relatively young on that side of the ball.

Most of our games against VT have been close and exciting, but GT has never won 2 in-a-row against the Turkeys. This game will be a great opportunity for that to change, playing at BDS with VT rebuilding, and playing in November when our offense could be in rhythm. Still, I see it as a 50/50 outcome.

VPI without Evans and without anyone named "Fuller" in their defense.

0.7

It'll be nice to have a 10 year or so break til their kids start playing there. What a coup for them that family was. Although I think the last one was a little overhyped - Smelter ABUSED him in the 4Q of 2014.

I agree their offense will fall off. Not a single stud at any skill position. Which is kind of crazy for a decent P5 squad.
