Poor coaching against Vandy & UConn lost the Clemson game

Let me break the ice. Since the first team offense spent the entire week pulling splinters out of their ass due to Gaileys unbelievable need to play players that barring some wrath of god disaster wont see action this year, our offense looked out of sync and ill prepared. I know this may come as a shock to you guys that spent your only time on the football field toting a flute at halftime, but game reps are hugely different than practice reps. This was displayed nicely today.

Because Gailey didn't give the first team at least a whole half of football to find its rhythm in either of the first two patsy games, they were forced to look for it against a quality opponent. And it was not to be found. Passing game looked out of sync, our running back was way tired, and we had no timeouts at the end of the game. This spells one thing. Not enought REAL Game reps. AJ pulled our ass out of the fire many times today and imho he does NOT share in the blame for this game. The lack of momentum we had at the end of the UConn game was obviously carried into the Clemson game. That really makes me angry.

It was poorly gameplanned from the outset and poorly coached during the game. Did we have any film on Clemson from this year?

Good point. Poorly coached. Someone needs to hold a little class on fundamentals. Staff? What was the point of having a special teams coach again? Stupid mistakes. Played like chumps and the unbelievable giveaway there at the end when Clemson had handed us the ballgame was just sheer stupidity. Gameplan sucked and they should have stuck with the plan to get Bilbo in. Welcome to the ACC.

I feel that the lost is completely on the head coach. Why in the world would you call a time out so that Clemson could change their minds and go for a touchdown instead of a field goal. Instead of being down only 13-6 after a great defensive stand and we are receiving the second half kick off, we are down by 11 points with Clemson having an urge momentum swing. I can accept interceptions and penalties by the kids, but when a so call experience head coach blow a time management situation, it does not bode well in any close ball games in the future. This looked like Bill Lewis and Bill Curry. If Ralph Freidgen the head we win by 20.

Bad, bad timeout call right before the half. Clemson was down to 12 secs on the play clock & surely would've gotten a 5 yd penalty as they were still running the kicking team onto the field. Clem had NO, ZIP, ZERO timeouts left so they couldn't call a TO. They'd have never gotten the kick off so then it would've been 4th & 7.5 yds to go. They'd surely try the FG then.
Very bad move to give Clem time to not only think about it, but to come up with a play to run. But this didn't lose the game as much as atrocious special teams play did.

Bottom line is we got whipped up front on both sides of the ball.

Right on, Kirbee. Our D line got thoroughly handled. The O line was not handled badly, but caved 5 times where Suggs really had no chance. Hollings helped a LOT on pass blocking & made many more yds than he should have based on the blocking (which wasn't there when he scored from a yd out without a block).

At least twice in the second half our QB got scacked on 2nd & 1. SECOND AND ONE!!! What's wrong with that picture?

Team was not prepared especially in 1st half. Maybe Beeware has valid points about "Buck" being blinded by the headlights of DIV I football.

BYU imho is critical to the devlopment of the team and this coaching staff.

I will be @ BDS@HGF next week yelling GO JACKETS

There is some truth to your words Dustjacket however if Gailey had played our starters more we may have been without the services of some of them as more injuries would of probably happened. And yes I played football too.

Personally I think the offensive game plan sucked. Our first four possessions Hollings carries the ball three times!?!?! Hello O'Brien! He is the single best weapon we currently have on offense. The defense was out of sunc all day long. I love Kelly Rhino's heart but he has absolutely no business being out their in pass coverage on receivers a foot taller than he is. They ate his lunch all day long. Houston, Davis, or even Ather Brown would of been better in the nickel back coverage.

What is strikingly funny is Tech played like hell and almost won this game. Doesn't bode well for the Tigers the rest of the way. Tech gave other teams a blueprint on beating the Tigers as their rushing defense is very suspect.

The better team doesn't always win and that was the cast today.
