Woke up early and drove to Atlanta with my daughter for the Wreck parade. There's no doubt it is the absolute best homecoming parade in the world. We ran into a couple of old pals and enjoyed the experience completely.
After the parade we walked up to the bookstore and bought a t-shirt for my daughter. Discovered that Bill Curry was going to be there later signing his book, so we made a note to come back then.
Off to the student center and informal tour of campus, as I pointed out some of the places that stirred memories of my Tech years, and marveled at all the new buildings that weren't there.
After sitting outside the student center and reading the Technique, we wandered via a different route back toward the fraternity house. We ran across the gold fire truck at the architecture building and talked to the fellers there. What a great tailgating set-up you guys have. Enjoyed it.
We made it to watch the team come in, and got low fives from all of them. We also ran into one of my old cheerleading buddies. She still looked hot.
Back to the student center to get the book signed. Good to see the old coach, and wished him well at Ga State.
One more trip to the frat house. This time there were about 15 old fossils there from my undergrad days, so we hung out there telling stories to my daughter about the old times. She's still laughing about some of them.
On to the stadium! Wife and son finally arrived. (Son had ACT in the morning)
Sat on the very top row of section 222. Great for standing up and leaning back against the fence that keeps you from falling onto Techwood.
The game was depressing, but we stayed until the crowd had cleared out, and danced as the band played "The Horse." Great attitude re-adjustment.
Back to the frat house. After much fun, we headed to Buckhead to another old friend's house for chili and beer. Some of my best friends ever were there, with wives and kids, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Overall, a great day. We may have lost the game, but we won everything else.
Perspective.
