Possible QB targets for PJ's system...

Leaving the Renfree drama aside, are there any other QB targets out there we can go after besides M.Roark (maybe wants to play WR in college) and J.Shaw? Have we contacted any other quality dual threat QB's earlier that might get in the mix now that PJ is calling the shots? Someone let me know, a PM is fine since I know some are hesitant to talk recruits openly (needless to say the PM will remain private).

I think we will know pretty soon from PJ himself by who he goes after. As I see it, we do not have anybody who can backup JN if he goes down to play PJ's offense so this will be a high priority with coach to bring in someone in this next class.

I'm very worried about this since qb's in spread option run systems have a higher rate of injury that those in traditional systems. Just ask Oregon and WVU fans what might have been if their QB's had been healthy, depth and athleticism at QB are key. We have to get at least one dual threat guy in this recruiting class.

Want me to run down to Daphne with a GT hat for him? I was down there yesterday, shopping for Christmas stuff.

Go for it, sell it and sell it hard. By the way Cooper Taylor runs the option at Marist....very interesting. He could be playing the same position as his dad played.

"Mr. and Mrs. White? Hi, I represent Stingtalk. We'd like to talk to your son about Georgia Tech. Oh, and hell to Georgia."

I was just looking at a thread someone started on the hive for that: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=140#s=140&f=2938&t=1613483

Doe he have an offer? I don't trust the recruiting services since in many cases (like J.Jarboe) they say a recruit has an offer one but in reality he doesn't.

He had an offer as a CB. However, we met our needs at that position with Reid and Lockhart. I am not sure if we will offer him as a QB or not. It will be interesting to see how things progress as we get closer to Signing Day.

I bet we will get a guy we have never heard of .He will be a strong smart ball handler/runner primarily because he may be STARTING next yr as a stop-gap..
PJ will zero in on 09 QBs for the long term future.

Don't you guys think that since PJ was already a head coach he probably already has in mind the half dozen or so prospects he'd like to go after? Furthermore, he probably thinks it will be easier to get them at GT than it would be at Navy.

I'm sure he has his plan all mapped out.

I'm not s sure about that since the athletes that PJ might have contacted for Navy would not be a fit at Tech because they are not Div I caliber players. At other schools a new coach might be able to sway talented players to come in late but with us the Hill needs to clear them first and its way too late for most out there to meet the academic requirements. That's why I asked about players that might have already been contacted by us earlier and reviewed by the Hill but did not seriously considered Tech. They might give us a second look now that the system is better suited for them.

There a ton of athletic QB's who get converted to wide receivers or defensive backs. I'm sure PJ has an eye for plucking out talented, intelligent guys who can run his system with precision.

I think you might be selling Calvin Booker short in this new era. He's always been known for his arm...AND his intelligence. he guy may not have speed, but the key in CPJ's offense is making the right read.
