I don't have a name but I don't think the new coach will be from a name school or have D-I head coaching experience. I think we will take a chance on someone who has assistant coaching experience on the offensive side of the ball in the D-I ranks, or we will take a proven D-II winner.
Unfortunately for us, we're kind of broke. Therefore, we can't afford to go out and compete with the other D-I schools attempting to fill head coaching vacancies. Factor in that we must pay Coach Gailey, possibly some of his staff, the new coach, the new coach's staff, the renovations at Bobby Dodd; all that tells me we're going after someone we can afford.
We'll probably sign someone to a 500K to 685K base contract with incentives. If you think about it, it makes sense for us right now. If the new coach wins, people will come and revenues will go up. Hence, we'll be able to pay the incentives.
I have mixed feelings about what happened today. But let's face it, Coach Gailey lost the masses, which meant he had to go. I hope the masses weren't wrong for the sake of the program.
