Atlantic
1. FSU- offense will be better... defense always good.
2. Maryland- if they find a qb they will be real good.
3. Clemson- spiller and davis is a nice running back tandem
4. WF- Skinner's good... they won't be as good as last year
5. BC- Matt Ryan is the best qb in the ACC... the got a new HC in which i think is a bad hire
6. NC STate- baker and brown are dangerous... not that much talent in raleigh
Coastal
1. GT- offense will be real good... defense always a top 15-20 unit
2. VT- got qb identity problems... DEFENSE is AWESOME
3. Miami- they'll be a little bit better... but not that much better
4. UVA- Sewell will lead the cavs to a bowl game... defense will be decent
5. UNC- young team... i'm not buying that Butch Davis crap.
6. Duke- they might win a few games and maybe challenge UNC for 5th place

What you think of my analysis and how do you see the ACC shaping up by November?

Atlantic
Florida State – Better offense + better defense = Better Season
Clemson – New QB has a run game to lean on
Maryland – New QB does not have quite as good of a run game
Wake Forest – No surprises this year
N.C. State – In every game, just can’t seem to win any of them
Boston College – Are we officially a basketball school now?

Coastal
Georgia Tech – beats VT at home, drops one to UVA on the road
Virginia Tech – Thank goodness they play FSU
Virginia – In it til the end, but come up short vs the Hokies
North Carolina – Rome wasn’t built in a day
Miami – Can’t win if you can’t score
Duke – It’s Duke, do you really need a reason? They will upset somebody though.

Coastal
GT - Look for a lot of Choice, TOP this year should really be in our favor.
VT - this defense is going to make a lot of people look bad.
UNC - there is talent here.
UM - they will score a lot of points. But I don't think they will produce in the big games.
UVa - They will still be the most under-coached team in the league.
Duke - is still duke

Atlantic
Clemson - An entirely orange crowd in Jax will see the first Atlantic team lose in the ACCCG.
FSU - no worst to first, but close
NCSt - they will stop beating themselves, but that's about it.
WF - still solid, but close games won't fall their way.
UM - Ralph needs to stand solidly behind his starting QB, whoever he picks.
BC - look for a complete meltdown

i'll give a crack at it

Atlantic
BC - Best qb in the conference, lot of experience returning
FSU - not an overnight fix for these guys.
WF - solid year for these guys.
Clemson - Bowden maybe on the way out.
MD - Can't seem to make up ground in this division
NCSU - program is a mess right now

Coastal
GT - maybe the most balanced team in the conference this year( crossing fingers on Special teams)
VT - their offense will let them in key games
UVA - strong year, just short
Miami - got alot a work to do down there
Duke - may pull an upset or two this year.

1. FSU - Dad finally decides to beat his son, 7-1 2. BC - I like their QB, 5-3
3. Clemson - could be higher, 5-3
4. Maryland - winning season and bowl for Ralph,4-4
5. Wake - the slipper comes off,2-6 6. NCSU - Chuckie had this team going backward, 1-7

1. GT - scared of games with Miami, Clemson, and Va Tech, but I think we can win two of three, 7-1
2. Va Tech - lots of talent, will have a lot of emotion, 6-2
3. Miami - could be better with improved QB play, 5-3 4. UNC - had a good spring, some young defensive talent, need a QB, 3-5 5. UVA - headed in the wrong direction - could we please win again in Charlottesville, or did Ross make a deal with the devil in '90? 3-5 6. Duke - poor, poor Ted. Last year's entire roster had 7 kids from NC. He needs to get the recruits going to App State, Elon, WCU and ECU and try to get some pride going with local talent. There are some who could qualify. 0-8

If we beat UGA, we beat FSU. If we lose to the Dawgs again, it will be ugly again for the title.

Atlantic
1. FSU
2. Boston College
3. Maryland
4. Clemson
5. Wake
6. NCSU

Coastal
1. VT
2. Miami
3. GT
4. UVA
5. UNC
6. Duke

Knox?

I just don't see Miami finishing ahead of us...

They have a new coach - and who their new OC is, is of significance.

Atlantic
1. FSU
2. Clem
3. BC
4. Mary
5. NCST
6. WF

Coastal
1. GT
2. UM
3. VT
4. UNC
5. UVA
6. Duke

I'll give a shot. I was hesitant to list FSU on top in the Atlantic. I know they are the concensus pick, however, BC always seems to post a better record than anticipated.

Atlantic
1. FSU
2. BC
3. CLEM
4. MARY
5. WF
6. NCST

Coastal
1. GT
2. VT
3. UVA
4. MIA
5. UNC
6. DUKE

Atlantic:
1. Maryland - I think fat ol' Ralph has a shock in store for the Atlantic division.
2. Clemson - The running back tandem will be hard to stop, lack of experience at QB will be the reason they do not win the division.
3. F$U - Here we go again with all this F$U hype, they don't deserve any of it, they suck and they will never return to what they once were. It is hilarious how they are due to return to old form each season, yet, it never happens. Actually I'm being generous giving them 3rd place.
4. BC - New coach + Mediocre/overrated QB = 4th place.
5. NC State - New asshole of a coach + piss-filled bleachers = 5th place.
6. Wake Forest = Back to reality for Wake. Their days of being a bottom feeder in the ACC have returned.

Coastal:
1. Tied GT/VT - I just cannot put a sole winner of first place for the Coastal division. We finally have a decent QB. A guaranteed 1000 yd + rusher and an excellent defense. Very balanced. But VT has the best defense in the ACC but their offense is a little above average. GT goes to JAX after winning head to head, however, season ends in a 1st place tie.
3.UVA - Will be slightly better than last year, not saying much, however, it is good enough for 3rd place.
4. scUM - Refer to F$U.
5. Duke - Better than UNC = 5th place, Duke finally breaks their winnless streak against UNC.
6. UNC - Overrated Coach + Shi tty team + Loss to Duke = Last place in the coastal.

ACC Championship:
GT 34
Terps 28

GT ACC Champions

Miami will be back. They still have the players, they just need an attitude adjustment.

I'm hesitant to throw Pat Nix under the bus considering who he worked for and what he had to deal with at QB. He did improve upon the previous 4 years of suck after all.

I don't. Nix showed a complete inability to adjust to what Reggie could do after his injury and would not give the ball to TC when we had teams on the ropes (ugag and Wake). He may end up to be good eventually, but he isn't now. Miami has the defensive players and some skill position guys. But they don't have a QB.

Have no idea about the rankings, but Butch Davis and the word crap have no connection.

He certainly needs it.

I'm hesitant to throw Reggie under the bus considering who he had to deal with at OC. When a player does not improve for 4 years, it's not just the player's fault.

Atlantic:
1. Clemson - I put Clemson here by default. I don't see the Atlantic being a strong division this year. The excellent running game should make up for the inexperience at QB and the big losses the Tigers took in the offseason.
2. FSU - They'll improve this year with Jimbo running the show, but I think the division crown takes another year.
3. Maryland - Fridge is gonna scare some people. I see this being that team that no one wants to play, even though the numbers won't show it.
4. Wake Forest - They're not surprising anyone this year, and I think that counts for a lot.
5. NC State - It's gonna take the 'Pack awhile, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them climb the ranks under O'Brien. The first year will be slow, but I think they'll be contending for the conference crown within five.
6. BC - Losing their coach is gonna hurt this team badly.

Coastal:
1. VT - I can't help put pick VT over us in the Coastal this year. We don't play well in Thursday night games and they'll be playing with a lot of emotion.
2. GT - I seriously wouldn't be surprised to see us have one ACC loss this year. Too bad it'll be to VT. But, I still pencil us into a very high-ranking non-BCS bowl.
3. UVA - Always hard to predict a win against UVA.
4. UM - Why did they hire Nix again? I just don't see UM turning into anything special with Nix calling the plays. Outside of that, there are always new coach kinks, and I think these will hurt the 'Canes this year.
5. UNC - I expect UNC to pull off one BIG upset this year, I just don't know who. With a little magic, they could jump both UVA and UM, but I don't see it happening this year. They just don't have the personnel.
6. Duke - It's Duke.

Just my two cents. I can't wait to see us whoop up on those pansies in South Bend!

Not disagreeing per se, but keep in mind that Clemson lost it's entire OL from last year. The running game will still be good, but I don't think that it will be what it was last year, esp. given the quarterback situation.

Don't disagree with this either, BUT we're at home, and we have a QB this year. But, like you pointed out, it's not as if we've done very well in Thurs. night games lately - home or away. Still I think it counts for something.

You're absolutely right. Didn't they also lose some key parts of their defense? A couple of D-linemen, I think, though I'm not totally sure.

To be honest, I'm trying to stay out of the "pick FSU to win it all" hype, and don't really have a team I really think can take their place. I've seen some throw MD out there. Who knows? This is gonna be a really awkward division this year. Very middle-heavy if you ask me.

FSU is going to run away with their division as the rest are pretenders this year. Wake may come in second again. Maryland has a QB flaw, NCS has to redo their system, Clemson has Bowden coaching...

BC has the best QB coming back so I'd think they have a shot.

Regarding our division, for the last 40 years, Tech just has not faired that well when predicted to do so. Meanwhile VPI is going to get every break known to man. I just don't see us getting it done, but if ever a time, this would be the season.
