GT wins by nine
UVA goes down in flames

Groh expects wishbone
Virginia gets big surprise

Tough game to call. Two weeks ago I told ya'll that beating Duke was in the bag because Bobby Dodd's picture was on the ticket. You probably thought the ticket voodoo was idiotic at the time. I also said to watch out the next two weeks. Pepper Rodgers barely got by Gardner-Webb, and now we have Bill Curry on the Virginia ticket. I like Bill Curry; but let's face it, he had mixed success at Tech, which means this game will be much closer than any of us would like. Still, the game is at Tech and it's homecoming. I'll predict GT 31, UVA 24. Our injuries in the secondary hurt us in this one.

i dont see our defense giving up 24. i say another 17-14 type game. if we dont put the ball on the ground add another td on to that.

It's true, if Groh is teaching his 3-4 defense (Which GT has ran through twice this year and should against UVA especially with Appleby not playing the right side I believe) to defend the wishbone, then UVA will walk away with their pants around their ankles, they'll run their pants off trying to stop GT. Clint Sintim is a guy we all hear about alot, but it's simple we just option away from him and take him out of the game essentially.

Also, Al Groh has been teaching his defense to stop a 190 lb. QB, supposedly with Nesbitt quickness (which I doubt) when Nesbitt is considerable bigger and stronger.

Al Groh and his coaches and the UVA squad have not played an offense like this since Grohs tenure at UVA, PJ said on his show that he tried to find some tape of Groh defending the option and he simply couldn't. So far the teams that have played an option team couldn't beat (Sylvester Croom comes to mind), so this leads me to believe that a team that HAS NOT defended such an offense will not be any more successful, if not worse.

I predict a 28-10 win. Somethimg like Duke I suppose. Clost at half maybe 10-3 or 14-10, then in the second half we stay committed to run and UVA defenses big guys just get tired and we pull away at the end of the 3rd to a 28-10 win and cover 12. :fingersx:
