Wesley Oglesby 6'6" 235 4.7 speed. DE, OL, LB.
1st Team All-state last year on state runner-up team, state champs prior year. Saw him play Friday night. Hits like a brick, fast smart. Ran back a fumble recovery 50 yds. for touchdown. Could be a good fit for the Jackets.

Looks like a player to me, but what has he done on the field? Any Season Long Stats?

If he's in Texas were already competing with the Horns, Aggies , Sooners and Cowboys. Hope he is grossly overlooked. This is the thing with GT we need to leave no stone untruned there is a lot of potential out there. There are so many cases kids like Bob Sanders from Iowa, a safety that was short and for that reason was overlooked by most BigTen programs, or Mike Williams from USC who played in a run oriented offense and did not get much exposure in Fl.

I think Colin Peek is a good example, he was a great pickup for us last year, if it wasn't for the injury that kept him out of the field for most of the year he would have been heavilly recruited.

I can't find the High school stats. Hurricane Rita has delayed a game in Houston, possibly cancelled it. However I di find this:

Recruit listing Utah or has Utah ties

In May he received his first offers...Duke and California. By June he had offers from over 11 schools and named a top five of Duke, California, Arizona, TCU, and OSU.

I sent his name in during the 2004 for season also. Prior to the Duke offer. I happen to know that he was waiting and still considering his options past the time that they won state. He was keeping all options open. No chance to recruit him if there is no contact.

I am almost 100% positive we made contact. We used a mass marketing approach this year sending "personal" letters to something like 2,000 or 2,500 kids across the country to let them know of our interest. This is done to gauge initial interest from a kid to help determine how much time you allocate towards recruiting them.

You start to put your board together from that. You also put some kids on their that did not respond if it was a kid that you felt you could work hard enough to be worth the extra effort. You have limited time to make contacts, verbal and in person, and you have to save time to contact all of the kids that really are considering you once every week...plus coach a football team.

I do not know this to be the case...but you also have to leave room for the thought that the coaches might not like something they saw on film...or heard about talking to other coaches. We have great contacts in the Arlington area.

I would also bet that since Barrick committed by in late spring/early summer (public finally picked it up early August) that completed our TE recruiting...and they may see him as more of a TE than a DE.

There is more to add with our recruiting process in general...particularly for next year...but I will let that come out from GT.
