Prospects

Of all of the men who have played football at GT or in some way was associated with the GT football program, or GTAA, or of all of the men who have graduated from GT, there seems like there ought to be at least ONE that would be a great prospect for GT as a HC.
Isn't there someone out there that can fill this bill?
Isn't there someway that we can bring one of our own up?
JD, what about you? I've wondered from the start why your name has not been in the mix. Not trying to embarrass you or put you on the spot, but seriously, what does DRad want that can't be filled by you or someone else from GT?
I know Ted Roof hasn't done diddly squat at Duke, but at the same time, I don't know what kind of restraints he had up there to contend with. Could T.Roof be a quality HC at GT? If not, I wonder why?

Good questions. JD and TR are two of the classiest players we have ever had. If we want to look at a young unknown why not Goose? If not HC we could consider all these for assistants plus Lil Joe is dying to coach QB's.

Glenn Spencer could do it. It would never happen because he doesn't have the notoriety DRAD is looking for.Proven success as a HC at W. Ga. He compiled a 28-7 record from 1998-2000, including two Gulf South Conference titles and two appearances in the NCAA Division II playoffs. With an .800 winning percentage, he left as the winningest coach in Gulf South Conference history. In 1998 Spencer was named the NCAA Division II Regional Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association after guiding the Braves to a 10-2 record, the conference championship and a playoff berth in his first season as head coach. West Georgia also posted a 10-2 record in 2000, following an 8-3 mark in 1999. He coached a few years at Tech before following his buddy Ted Roof to Duke. That may have slowed his ascension up the coaching ranks a bit but it speaks to the character he has. I think one day he'll be HC again somewhere and will be on his way. I think he would go out and prove himself fairly quick as GT's HC. It wouldn't take long to win naysayers over IMHO.
