I am doubting heavily that CG is going to get an OC. He was OC for several NFL teams and probably couldn't justify giving someone that position when he's had gobs of experience at it.

Having said that, if CG brought in a qb coach (and dumped Nix), would that help? Or would it just be more of the same.

Most agree that the offense is weak, averaging only 18 points per game. Our defense is stout, giving up only 16 or so points per game. The defense only seemed to cave (in the VT and Utah games) when it became clear that the offense was so anemic that all appeared hopeless. I don't think the defense would have collapsed in those games if the offense was more potent.

I just have to hope the reason we ignore much of the playing field in our passing game is that Reggie still has not earned trust in his ability to read the safeties. That has been the knock. Thus far, the backups have been disappointing. Bennett has only played 4 years of football his entire life...with the last two on the GT bench. Garner was redshirted.

I just cannot believe someone with that much experience just loves running short sideline patterns all of the time. I think we would be foolish to think that is the preference.

It is definitely a design to win with defense while we lack in this area.

No head coach wants to bring in an OC that will take the control out of his hands. The coaches who have been OC probably think they would be second guessing their new coordinators, if they brought one on board. If the new OC did a good job the HC's job might be in jeopardy.

I just don't see anything changing for next year. More of the same. 18 points per game. RB as qb. An extremely limited offensive scheme. The goal of every game is to try to hold the opponents to 14 points or less. We are going to win 6-7 games with that strategy...

huh? Wanna explain that one?

I guess the HC does get the glory if the OC does well and the OC is the real brains behind the thing...

I can see that for a HC that has spent most of his prior time as a coordinator. They don't seem to understand that their job is recruiting and motivating smarter guys than themselves. These guys make horrible managers in business too.

I do not see Chan being worried about losing his job if an OC came in and did well. He does not have to have this job...or any job...he wants to do well at GT and loves GT.

I would be interested in someone responding to my original response...I do not think that has been addressed.

I think Chan's play calling has been good. The execution has been what has stank.
