With all the talk about quarterback, does anyone know what happened to Camp in all this mess? Does he not know the playbook as well as Suggs, or just not have the athletic ability??? When I saw the spring game this past spring I thought he had as just as good an arm as Suggs and Bilbo, if not better. He made some good throws. Is he that bad or has he never been given a chance??? Maybe the best quarterback has been playing, but then I have to ask a question is what happened? How come other schools like Duke or Wake, or Air Force or whoever have better quarterbacks? Did the coaches who recruited them just make bad decisions on all of them?????
The problem I see with Bilbo is he does not have a chance to succeed unless he can learn his reads IF it is true he doesn't know his playbook. The only scheme they run with him is a shotgun-with 5 wideouts for the most part. Any defensive coordiantor with any sense knows what to expect. You dare him to beat you passing while shutting down the run. Unless you have a running game to keep a defense honest in my opinion he can't succeed. I hate the shotgun with the 5 receivers because it makes you too much of a finesse team, and it only works most of the time if you have better athletes than the other team-which Tech does not have in most cases. Suggs, I don't know what to think. I look at him at Tenn as a freshman and look at him now and can't believe it is the same player. Not that he was setting the world on fire at Tenn, but this season.....
But the offensive line should have been better. As a former lineman I know. I expected as much from the defensive line because it was thin. No excuses from the offensive line. There were times Tech couldn't even get a snap off.
Braine played football. He knows football I would hope. Surely he has to be a little worried about this season and the upcoming season. Just look aroung the league-everyone is improving except Tech and Clemson, and maybe UNC. Sure, you will never get the athletes that say UGA or FSU can get. I wouldn't want them. I think as a Tech fan I accept the academic limitations and you are going to get beat sometimes just because the other guy has better athletes. But there is no excuse for lack of motivation, or preparation. If you get beat at least be competitive and make the other team earn it.
As a former player, you have to believe in what the head coach is doing. If not, it is certain disaster. You go through the motions in the off season and it carries over when practice starts. Fortunatley I played on winning teams all my life, but I really worry about this coming off season if there will be the motivation to get better. Deep down are the players questioning what is going on? I'm afraid we haven't seen the worst yet and the roof is really going to cave in...Please I hope I'm wrong.
