There is a thread today from someone watching practices, who expresses concern about Cornerback play (basically says he is upset at CB play)

For you guys going to practice - any thoughts ?

People upset at the CBs is as common and goes back as far as people complaining about Emag.

Take everything you read in a practice report with a grain of salt.

kirbee,

That is good advice to all when reading anyone's practice report. I am by no means an expert on football technique, etc., but I simply post what I observed and others like MasterB, GTTerrific and Damarius can provide indepth observations as well.

As far as the secondary goes, Muyres and Collins have played well along w/Houston. I am not as concerned about our DB's right now, just the depth behind the starters. Also, keep in mind who they are defending: GT has from Top to Bottom, one of the best receiving corp.'s in the southeast--I would expect those guys to make some plays. I would be worried if they were not getting their fair share.

After practice they go and break down the films. Practice is filmed from every angle. They know everything and anything that goes on.

Wasn't at practice this morning, so don't know what Jimbo was looking at.

It's been reported in AJC, so I'll talk about it. Hester has barely practiced. He's been sitting out from surgery he had on a stress fracture in his leg. He came back for first time day before yesterday. Didn't practice yesterday. First practice back he was a rusty. That's to be expected.

Cox and Houston have played well. They've both made a lot of plays. Houston has had a number of picks and several balls knocked away. They just simple havn't thown to Cox's man much. He's done a good job locking his guy down.

The play at this point in practice isn't going to be mid season form. People going to practices should know this. These guys aren't ready for a game yet. They are practicing to get ready for the first.

Hester isn't ready yet, but we need him to be ready. Have a hard time believeing that he showed up this morning to practice and showed he's ready for Vandy. When healthy that guy is very good. He's taken heat from fans, but until he hurt his shoulder last season he was awesome.

I don't know what Jimbo was looking at during practice. Not sure if it was drills or what they were trying to accomplish.

Houston is a RF and still very young. Mark my words. That guy is going to be super player.

Cox so far this summer has been very good.

Have these guys made mistakes? Heck yeah. They'd be the first to admit it. There hasn't been a player on either side of the ball that hasn't.

Jimbo hopes Gailey notices what he's seeing and does something about it?? Give me a break. No offense Jimbo, but that's pretty sad. They know everything and anything that goes on.

Is Hester expected to be at 100% by Vandy ?

Does anyone know the specifics on his surgery ?

Thanks for the insight GT98 and GTT.

I should have added the following parenthesis to my statement about the salt "(especially when posted by Jimbo)." He has been known to come up with some strange stuff, bless his heart.

The only other thing I have to add is that the omission of one player's name who was much ballyhooed is disappointing.

kirbee,

The player that you are referring to...it is not that he is not playing well or poorly, it is just that he has not really seperated himself from the others vying for playing time at that position. That could be viewed as good or bad--we have some good athletes in the secondary; IMO, it is a matter of putting them into (better) position to make plays. Also, keep in mind that the former GA AJC High School football player of the year was recruited at the same position and looks like he will play a lot this year, if not start a bunch as well (who was redshirted last year
