Question about academics & athletic performance

I thought we could only recruit young men who were able to handle the academic load at Tech.

I would also think that intelligence in the classroom would translate to the field. It did when we were winning National Championships. The relationship was quite proportional.

Why isn't this happening? I would think that we are fielding athletes with superior intellect.

I just don't get the feeling that we really are getting special athletes. I think our athletes are still skating through on an easier track.

Does anyone here really think that Reggie Ball is hitting the books? The guy probably thinks he'll get drafted in the NFL draft. He is trying to live beyond his height and athletic destiny. I bring him up because he is the figurehead of our athletics.

Our basketball team seems a bit on the dull side, as well. I just don't think we can lean on the fact that we aren't dealing with the same academic limitations.

While I'm at it:

No, I don't give us any leniency in recruiting because of our academics. We overcame this as recently as O'Leary.

No, I am not happy that we have gone to several bowl games in a row. They are garbage pits.

No, I am not happy about such and such winning seasons in a row. We never beat ga or fsu.

Yes, I do think we can beat ga any given year. If Utah can slap us around like schoolgirls, we should be able to beat ga. We need to start playing ga the first game of the year (a la fsu & mia) so I'll know in advance how good or lame the season will be.

I would also like to note that we can't beat ga in baseball, basketball, or golf. All of which, we supposedly have the superior program. This is a dark time for the rebellion.

Hallelujah, holy sh*t, where's the tylenol? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bricks.gif
