I don't know the rules about red shirts. Dwyer played yesterday. Does that negate a redshirt option?

he was never a redshirt candidate he gonna be playing...he could redshirt now if he were to get hurt

The only way that he could redshirt is if he gets hurt without getting in too much playing time.

IF

Before the end of the 3rd gm, Bos Coll, any of the true Frosh came down with a season ending injury, they could take an injury RS. They cannot play after the 3rd gm to do this.
In today's world, a season ender could be turf toe, infected hangnail, migraines, etc, etc:rolleyes: In other words, they can still RS if they don't play after the 3rd gm. E.G., Damarius Bilbo also scored a TD as a true Fr @ Navy in the 70-7 rout. Bilbo still redshirted that season;).
Selah.

Dwyer is obviously not a good RS candidate b/c he will be our primary back next year and is also an important part of this season's offense, but does anyone think some of the other Freshmen who played yesterday are likely to get redshirted?

Specifically, I could see Nesbitt or Donley coming up with an injury and taking an RS. Maybe we'll see how the "jacket package" works against Samford, and if Nesbitt has trouble finding seams or we don't let him throw, he could take a RS. Also not sure about Mario Butler but we're pretty thin at CB so...

If I have ever seen a back in the white and gold ready to play as a frosh it is him (I'm not old enough for ELI). The selfish guy in me says redshirt him unless we need him due to a Tashard injury, so that we will have four years of him. I couldn't be more pleased to say that he doesn't look like he needs game experience this year to get him ready to carry the load next year. Although I haven't analyzed his blitz pickup blocking...

The more likely reason to not redshirt him is that he could leave early anyway.

I'm less inclined on the QBs. If Bennett progresses nicely, they can redshirt next year. If he doesn't you will need them to have had game experience if we are to have a chance next year. Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me to see one of the two redshirt, since we haven't exactly had gobs of blowouts (which you generally need to insert your third string QB).

JMHO.

That is close, but the rule states 20% of the teams plays. If you listened to the pregame show, Chan said that would be in the neighborhood of 80 plays. He said they set a projection of 100 plays to remove doubt and that there were 5 of 8 freshmen likely to hit the threshold. It wouldn't matter if they waited until the last game. It's just not likely.

At this point Dwyer (especially after Evans performance), Morgan (Burnett), & Morgan (Morgan; how do the defensive coaches keep from getting them both to look up?) look like locks.
