I don't keep up with much other than whether the Falcons win or not and what goes on with them.

Are many head coach hiring processes drawn out like the Miami search has been? Is there this much drama to other searches? Is this search out-of-the-ordinary or does it just seem like it because it is directly related to GT?

Its pretty unusual. Most teams are going after the latest hot guy or guys and usually rush to get them signed on before another team does.

I also think the Miami coach search has gotten a lot of coverage b/c they were in spot light when AL was "courting" Saban & the way it lead up to his exit....so the stage was already set....& it's personal to us & suspenseful b/c GT involved.

I agree with you Ken. And while it's frustrating for us, I can't blame the Dolphins holding out to see what other coaches become available. If you're running your franchise like a business, it only makes sense to take your time, review all of your options, and make the best possible hire (esp. in the offseason).

That being said, I'm just as ready as anyone else for all of this waiting to be over.

Most teams fire their coach, so they have someone in mind. With Saban leaving unexpectantly, the search has been drawn out more.

I would love to be a fly on the wall during those marathon interview sessions. Obviously they are more than the standard "Tell us a little about yourself." "What are your strengths?" "What are your weakness?" "What will this organization be missing if we do not hire you?"

But what can be covered in three plus hours X 2 or 3? I'm not in the business world, so I don't know how this type of thing goes down.

Curiousity stemming from anxiousness, I suppose.

I was kind of hoping they'd have some more situational questions, like "Tell me about a time when you failed to meet a goal," or better yet, "What would you do if your starting QB was caught in an airport, lets say Miami, with an Aquafina bottle hiding some wacky weed?"

Now that's funny:laugher: :laugher:

I think there were two factors in drawing out the search:

1. Chargers in the playoffs. You can't even think about a guy until his current team's season ends, so they waited for the Chargers to get bounced out of the playoffs. They also waited to see what SD would do with Marty.

2. Mora's waffling about whether to take the job. What he really wants is either the Seattle Seahawks job or the UW job. My guess is he's waiting for Tyrone Willingham to falter and in the mean time, he's living on the streets with that 2 million a year the Falcons are paying him the next few years.
